Hello,
I am not seeing this with the settings and I am using an iPhone 7 plus as well as running the latest version of iOS. I can see all the settings after choosing account settings. I am really anxious to try out the new facial reccognition that they are working on. I am not sure though when it will be available to use.

Regards,
Greg Wocher

That is exactly the functionality I was thinking of when I wanted to see if there were any settings I need to adjust. Not sure what is going on with my device then since I've tried a reboot and am still experiencing the same behavior. Guess if it doesn't resolve itself through the next update or just over time I'll try deleting and reinstalling the app.

The last updates of the FB app has brought along a frustrating bug for me. When someone comments on a post and I get a notification on that comment, I can no longer open that notification. I.e. double tapping on it does nothing.
What I usually can do, is to find a notification regarding likes or reactions to the same post, and open that one instead, and access the comments that way. Another workaround is to find the spot on the screen where the comments notification is located first, then turn VO off and try to tap on the location of the notification, and then turn VO back on to see if I had any luck.
But am I the only one who's seeing this? I think it's a bit wierd that I haven't seen anybody else mentioning this, since I think this bug has made my FB life sort of miserable now for probably a month...

By Jeff on Monday, May 21, 2018 - 17:30

Can't you just tap on the Notifications tab at the bottom and see your notifications? Then you can tap on any notification you want to read. At least, that's how it works for me.

Yeah, that's right, I tap on the notification tab at the bottom and see all my notifications there.
So far, so good, but that's where the trouble starts. Few or none of the notifications that tells me' that someone has commented on this or that is possible to activate with VO for me. I double tap on them, but nothing happens. On the other hand, notifications about likes or reactions or other stuff opens just fine.
That's why I now have to find the notification regarding number of likes to the same post as I get notifications about comments from, and open the post from the likes notification instead. Very frustrating...

I see that your comment is over a year old. I don't log in very often. Did you figure this out?

Hi
Is anyone else presently unable to access videos on Facebook for iOS? Previously one could double-tap the video element from within a post, but now it seems to be missing.

I am using the newest version of it and running the latest version of ios. Is anyone having this problem or knows how to resolve it? Thanks for any help. Also I deleted the ap restarted my phone and reinstalled and still doesn't work.

Does anyone have any issues mentioning people or pages?

By René Jaun on Friday, June 21, 2019 - 17:30

Hello! Last time I tried, I was able to mention friends. Mentioning Pages does not work for me either in the Facebook App or online on m.facebook.com
The only place where I can successfully mention friends and pages is on the Facebook Desktop Page www.facebook.com

By chris R on Friday, June 21, 2019 - 17:30

I'm sure I've been able to mention pages. Just type @ and then start typing the page name and find it on the list that appears.

By René Jaun on Friday, June 21, 2019 - 17:30

Nope, I did:
1) Open FB.
2) Click „Compose Post“ Button (or what ever that one says in English).
3) Type „I really like „
4) Then, tapped @ followed by the letters „aug“, hoping it would list „August Burns Red“, a Metal Band whose Page I‘m subscribed to.

5) Nothing happened. No suggestion whatsoever appeared on the screen.

AND WORSE!
I must confirm what @The Blind Advocate wrote: When I tried the same thing with some letters, hoping it would allow me to mention friends, no list was generated either.
So I do stand corrected: Mentioning anyone, friends or pages, does not seem to work anymore in my FB iPhone App either.

I definitely got that process you described to work a few weeks ago. I'll try it again.

By René Jaun on Friday, June 21, 2019 - 17:30

Not that it matters much. I never felt the need to use this extensively.
But if you are in your FB app.
Tap on the menu in the bottom right corner.
Then select „All Favorites“
And then try using the „discover People“ screen. („Entdecke Personen“ in German).
I currently get an extensive list of objects all labelled „Profile“, with no accessible means to tell them appart. Profile, Profile, Profile. Well, I guess that is ONE WAY you could make want to „discover People“...

By chris R on Friday, June 21, 2019 - 17:30

Can confirm it doesn't work any more. I did however find a partial workaround. After you type @, locate where you can change backgrounds and choose another background. After you do this, somehow the first friend/page on the invisible mentioned list will be also completed. It seems there is something hiding the list from VoiceOver now.

By René Jaun on Friday, June 21, 2019 - 17:30

Thanks! This really does let me (kinda) tag friends again.
However, it still does not let me tag pages. My experiment trying with „Aug“ returned some guy named August I don‘t even know. End when I tried „@August Burns“, FB would simply stop making suggestions. So I guess it‘s back to annoying but better working Desktop in those cases. :-(

Yep, it only seems to work for the first item in the list so if you have pages which sound like names then will probably get a name first. At least it helps a bit anyway.

I tried the work around and can't get it to work. Do you type the entire person's name or a little bit of it?

By René Jaun on Friday, June 21, 2019 - 17:30

I‘d suggest you start small.
So if you‘d like to mention Harry Potter, start by typing
@har
Then press that „Background“ option.
Then check your status message and see if the app has entered a name.
If it has, but it‘s not the right name (maybe Harold Smith was put in instead of Harry Potter), try it again with more characters. Delete the inserted wrong name and try again, typing
@Harry
Then repeat.
But as this method is really just a „work around“ it‘s quite possible it does not work for you at all.
Therefore, I‘d encourage you to let the Facebook Accessibility Team know by going to
https://www.facebook.com/accessibility/
And open a support ticket.

Hey all!
I have found a workaround for the tagging issue. For me, I cannot tag anyone in a post. If I put @Jane Jones, I don't get the options onscreen like I should. So yeah, it's happening to me too. I cannot even tag people in the comments on the original post like if I want to mention someone's name in the comments of a news article for example. I do however have a workaround. If you have something to say to who you tag or you don't want to choose the tag people option, write your post & hit the post button. Then go to the comment option either by flicking up/down until you heare the comment option & double tap on it. Then tag someone as you normally would & hit post & submit your comment. Or you can click on the post, go to the write a comment field & go from there.
This is annoying, but until Facebook pushes another update that (hopefully) fixes this issue, this is the easiest way I found at least to tag a person & put a comment. Hope this helps! And here's to hoping Facebook fixes this issue VERY VERY SOON!!!!

By Dawn 👩🏻‍🦯 on Sunday, July 21, 2019 - 17:30

I have a workaround for tagging. It's happening to me too. Post the article or meme or whatever you want to post. Then go to your page, find the post & tag whoever you want to tag in the comments. It's annoying, but I think it's the iasiest solution right now. At least until Facebook fixes it which is hopefully soon!

By René Jaun on Sunday, July 21, 2019 - 17:30

Downloaded the latest update and found the problem fixed: Mentioning both friends and pages in status messages is once again possible from within the IOS app for me.

By chris R on Sunday, July 21, 2019 - 17:30

Can confirm it is working again. You can find the list immediately below the text field and above the background options. Use flick gestures to navigate the list.

By Maya on Sunday, July 21, 2019 - 17:30

Please, would anyone tell me how do you tag pages in status?
I can tag friends, but I never figured out how to tag pages, it never worked for me.
Thank you for help.

Facebook used to work great, but now the accessibility of the app seems to be getting worse and worse! It is driving me crazy! Are any of you having these problems?

By Dennis Long on Saturday, September 21, 2024 - 17:30

Saying things like it used to work great isn't helpful. where in particular are you having issues?
