I found this last post. Very helpful. Thank you so much. Another post I found helpful is the fact that somebody said donā€™t feel like you have to grab every card that comes along, because if there is cards that you rely on in the deck, they may not come up as often during battle, which may or may not result in oneā€™s death.

well, I hope in the future update... it can have haptic Feedback for more better gaming experience...

Hey all,

I'm still pretty new to the game myself, but some tips from my point of view.

Shrines do all different kind of things depending on the type, you can inspect the shrine and get an idea. Some will eat the offered card, useful for getting rid of the block card if you don't need it for example,, others will change the energy cost to neutral or blood for example.
The weekly challenge in the leaderboards give a lot of those meta tokens, can't remember what they are called, but the challenge is fun and really rewarding.
Often it is wise to stack up on a bit of energy and wait a turn doing nothing to strike back with much more power.
Sometimes an opportunity will add a talent. You can hear the specific sound effect, but it is not read by VO. Check your character info when you suspect this.
Read what effects your enemy has and learn how to deal with it. Last night I thought that I was steamrolling the game on auto pilot until just before the finish a priestess reflected 70 damage to me and one stupid mistake lost the game for me.
For me the easiest runs are as a level 1 warrior, just focus on getting as many basic attacks on the enemy as possible, followed by the poison rogue where you focus on anything that adds poison for extra damage and heals. I also like the holy knight, but dealing with 3 kinds of energy makes it sometimes complex as the game will choose what it uses in your place.
It might be subjective, but I find the maps from the expansion packs harder than those from the basic game, so stick with those if your goal is game victory.

That was extremely useful, since I found myself completely overlooking the fact that I could stock up on energy like that. I think going forward, no matter what class I play I will exercise thatā€™s just strategy in some cases.

So I just noticed a bounty that says something like:
Understand your enemies:
I'm supposed to finish a run with 10 or more cards that I've taken from my foes.
Now, how do I go about that?
How am I supposed to take cards from my enemies?
I would appreciate very much your help with this.
On another matter, I've also discovered that in order to slay your enemies they have to be brought down to exactly 0.
I understand that I have to be very precise when hitting my enemy if I want to do this properly. However, I don't know if there would be a possibility of perhaps playing a different sound or if VO could announce that you have accomplished this successfully.
The reason why I think this is necessary is because, for example, if your enemy has three points of health and you hit it and cause four damage, you would not be accomplishing this correctly because the count would be minus one.
I would like to have this because, if I am not mistaken, there are some cards that require you to slay your enemy and not to overkill it.
I think that there are also bounties that require this.
Anyway, I don't know how to exactly get in touch with the developers, but I am hoping that our friend @matheus rheine can relay this message to them.
Thank you for your help and have a wonderful Thursday or Friday.

Hey DrummerGuy,

Sorry I don't have the answers for you, but I don't think this is the place you will find them. I would suggest you join their discord server and ask it there. I been on it a few days and see some extremely knowledgeable people on there who are willing to help everyone, including the devs. Sadly I find discord not the most accessible app, both on Mac and iOS, but that's offtopic...

For the bounties, you can reroll them once a day if they are too hard.

I believe you are correct about the slay action, the same goes when you steal som extra max health or some other effects like extra card dra in your next battle. We just don't know when the effect triggered or not.

KR,

I'm know expert, but I do have a couple of thoughts.

Stealing cards from enemies, there are some cards that come up that do this, and I think some talents too. Like there's one the Rogue gets where you stun an opponent and steal a potion, which I think counts.

As for the times you have to get an enemy down to exactly 0, that gets really tricky, particularly when you factor in things like poison and bleeding and such. Not sure if it's the kind of thing you have to do often enough that the devs would put a sound in for it or not, might just be a lot of noise if it's just an average fight and you don't care how much you destroy the enemy by.

I have to agree with the previous poster. I'm on the Dawncaster discord, but I can't wrap my brain around discord, so it's not a as good a resource as it could be. However, Thanks to distopia, I can handle redit, so I joined the dawncaster group there. It's also very helpful.

I think I destroyed the game.
After completing the Sun Forge trial, the game screen which congratulated me for finishing the trial, was completely unresponsive annd inaccessible even without using VO,, so I had to close the game from the app switcher without getting my rewards.
Furthermore, when reopening the game, the continue button was still there but I couldnā€™t interact with the following screen, which with that exception, was normal and accessible.
I did not get a screen recording of the problematic screen, but I got a screenshot.

I don't know if this is possible already, but if not, it needs to be added to the list of things to make accessible. I read in a guide that you can change the type of energy you use to play a card by moving it left or right. This is quite a big thing, for example, the great sword used by the knight does 12 base damage when played with holy energy as opposed to the normal 6. This can mean the difference between victory and defeat.

By matheus rheine on Thursday, February 29, 2024 - 22:12

hey Mike! the developers are already aware of the bug with cards that use holy energy, it will always going to use holy if you have it available and give you the correct bonus. it will be available in an update next month. as for other cards with more than one energy type, it's quite difficult for the developers to find an optimal solution that doesn't become time consuming. because you would always need to choose what energy to use after trying to play a card, because the accessibility plugin being used doesn't support other gestures to make it similar to the left and right drag that sighted players are using. this is not a fault of the developers, it's a fault of the plugin itself. but it is still being investigated and it will be worked on in a later update.

By DrummerGuy on Thursday, February 29, 2024 - 22:12

One thing that I certainly love about this game are the sound effects. They are so awesome. Always love to play with my headphones on. The music is excellent. So far, I find this game very addictive.

By Tayo on Thursday, February 29, 2024 - 22:12

I know this has been written off before, but wouldn't a dialogue popup asking what type of energy you wish to use be better than nothing? Besides, not everyone is comfortable with drag anyway.

I've been playing this with my hearing aids, and so probably miss the full effect of the sound effects. Need to break out the Beats again.

By Missy Hoppe on Thursday, February 29, 2024 - 22:12

I'm loving this game as much as ever. I still more or less exclusively play as a knight unless I'm doing the sun forge trial, but I might try to unlock more classes eventually. I'm definitely not complaining, but I've noticed that with this newest update, dialogue/description screens seem to be a step behind, or don't refresh as expected. Not sure how to describe it, and I may have never noticed it, but the update specifically said it was addressing this issue which, to the best of my memory, wasn't an issue until this update. I almost never read the text anyway, especially in Bright Candle as I've read it plenty of times, but I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed it, and if so, could they describe it more articulately? I'm probably going to start another game in a few minutes. I find myself playing this game pretty much any time I've got nothing else to do, and I don't see that changing any time soon. If more expantion packs ever become available, I will most definitely buy them so that I can continue showing my support for this phenominal game.

By DrummerGuy on Thursday, February 29, 2024 - 22:12

My knight is rank 38 and my seeker is rank 36.
I will be unlocking everything I can for the other classes, too.
I certainly hope they add new chapters in the future because this game is so awesome.
I am pretty sure that There are plenty more exciting things to come.

By mistermouse on Thursday, February 29, 2024 - 22:12

Yep,

There are so many deck possibilities for all the classes and you see everyone has his favourite. For me, I have Arcanist at level 25 and I would say that I'm loving the fire burn and holy combination. My last run still on normal I finished the end boss in the first turn :).
With the seeker I lost the weekly challenge in the first fight, LOL ...

Also to mention, with the 06 update they had a bug and about half a day later there was the 07 update to fix it, so they are really quick on the ball.

Have Fun

By DrummerGuy on Thursday, February 29, 2024 - 22:12

My two favorite classes are the knight and the warrior.
It would be nice to have other classes in the game. Perhaps in the future, we could see an alchemist fighting.
Well, it is time for me to start another run.

By Mike NZ on Thursday, March 7, 2024 - 22:12

So far I have finished the game with Warrior, Rogue, and hunter. Warrior was built around building up brittle, the rogue with poison, and the hunter with the bow. If you can gain effects which build off other stacks you are sitting pretty, e.g. gain life when you stack poison.

Don't know what is up with the challenges though. This one I start a game and have no energy, you can use surges, but it isn't enough to get anywhere with it. Only one of the three I have played since I started with the game has been remotely playable.

By Mike NZ on Thursday, March 7, 2024 - 22:12

Has anyone unlocked one of the special weapons? The axe is easy if you have the strength when the opportunity treasure comes up, but the others seem like hefty tolls.

I think the one I might have the best shot at is the spear that needs 150 blessings to unlock.

By Yvonnezed on Thursday, March 7, 2024 - 22:12

I haven't gotten very far with them either, although admittedly I haven't tried much, ā˜ŗļø

the way I understand it though is, keep your deck as small as you can so the surge cards come up a lot. prioritize cards that do things like conjure free cards or generate energy or build on each other. And I guess, keep a really tight eye on what energy you do have so you try to conserve it.

Guess that's why they call it a challenge though, ugh! it sounds hard now I put it like that, ā˜ŗļø.

By Mike NZ on Thursday, March 14, 2024 - 22:12

If you memorize a basic attack, and get the talent to upgrade the first attack of a combat, you can be unstoppable if that weapon stacks. I had a longsword with over +50, and talents that more than doubled my armor gained. Needless to say, one hit from the sword, then a bash killed the final boss before he even got a turn.

Just updated Dawncaster today, and it now describes the character portraits. Some of them sound very, very interesting. A lot of them are also a bit creepy, IMO, but I'm super thankful that this additional accessibility has been included. I made a suggestion on Discord that perhaps weapons could be described in a future update, and the response I got was favorable, so that's something to look forward to.
