Accessibility Comments

The game uses a modified version of the unity accessibility plugin to fix the bugs with the plugin itself, so you will have the best experience! the accessibility is brilliant! the developers will continue to expand it daily, they will even add portrait descriptions for the enemies in future versions, so you will know every detail! you play the game mostly with one finger. you can move between groups of elements by swipping up and down. I've tested this version for more than a month and can definitely say it's a masterpiece in terms of accessibility and gameplay!

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

This is the game I always wanted to play! It's my favorite game, and I kindly ask you to trust me and give it a chance, there's three years of content available, with expansions, so much to unlock, and the developers are working so fast with dedication and player feedback to bring you the best deck building experience!

I came to add an entry for Dawncaster, only to find Drg beat me to it.
So I'll just say, this is absolutely everything he says it is!

Great strategy, a massive load of choices and options, and a fascinating world full of demons to fight and choices to make.

Best of all the accessibility is pretty awesome as it stands, and is only going to get even better as time goes on.
So this is one that has my full support behind it and one I absolutely recommend!

By matheus rheine on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

Again, we have a big list of improvements we'll continue to work on after launch, and I do want to stress that part to anyone coming into the game that we are a 'fail fast, fix fast' kind of studio, so while we anticipate some bugs and issues, fixing those won't be a matter of months, but should often be fixed in the week after patch.

Accessibility to-do's:

Improve the auto-focus features on active elements

Improve dynamic notifications for gaining gold or losing health

Make secondary menus such as the Codex, Rankings/History, News, Discord, and Daily Double accessible.

Enable viewing of selected cards and talents on the final character creation screen.

Improve the loading screen experience with more immersion.

Include visual descriptions for portraits, enemies, and zones.

Enhance merchant navigation and informational clarity.

Continuously integrate and process community feedback for ongoing improvements.

I have been playing this game for a little less than an hour now, and I absolutely love it. I love the choices you can make. I love the things you can combine, I love the music, and I love the sound effects! Question, though, I noticed there is the main game, but there is also the Sun Forge? I played a little bit of that as well only made it to Boston two or three, is that like an endless mode or is it for bragging right? Regardless, keep up the great work !

By Brad on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

As soon as I get money to say thank you to the dev for making this game as accessible as possible For us.
There's only one thing, is there a way to know what your characters special ability does? I'm playing a hunter, level one, and can click on the button and it makes a sound but doesn't seam to do anything?

It's a little irritating that when you die you have to go back to the beginning but I guess that's all part of this game :)

By Firefly on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

I can see how some people might find that irritating. I probably will at some point. However, I think it adds replayability to the game. Also, I like the fact that when I go into my character details, I can see for how long Iā€™ve been playing as that character. Kind of a cool neat little stat.

By Brad on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

It's a way of saying, "you want to see what's next don't you?"

By Brad on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

Yep, this is a mainstream game made blind accessible.

By Brad on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

in the sunforge section,, if you go to a fight and look in your deck; there's no close button. I've emailed the devs but someone else might want to check it out and see if they can let them no on discord.

By Brian on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

Does the scrub gesture work in this app?

By Karok on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

hi is there a podcast showcasing this title?

By dark on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

You can find a A beginners guide to dawncaster here and much information ON the blightbane official site here. Access wise, as the accessibility fix only came out yesterday, there may be a bug or two (improvements are already being planned), and there isn't much by way of resources. However, with the way that the speech output is implemented in this game, there really is nothing much to learn. Left and right swipe to view things, up and down to flip between groups of elements, EG your status, your hand, and the enemy status during battle. Double tap on thigns to activate. That is literally, it! So any resources pertaining to playing the game graphically will be entirely relevant. Hth.

By Firefly on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

I wonder if thereā€™s anyway to share ones play through with people? Letā€™s say I get done playing a game, regardless of whether I died or not, Iā€™d like to still be able to share it. Like on Mastodon or whatever. Is there an option to do that?

By matheus rheine on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

Hey Firefly! the victory screen will be updated in the future to include an option to copy your results to the clipboard, including scores, cards, talents, etc. for now it's still not possible to do, but every feature available to sighted players will become fully accessible soon.

By Firefly on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

OK, thank you for the quick response. By the way, I love this game so much keep up the good work. I really canā€™t get enough of it! It seems like it has hours and hours of entertainment, and I like the fact that each play through isdifferent because certain things are randomized. Iā€™m going to be playing it a lot over the next couple days because I am feeling pretty sick, so resting is in my immediate future,

By Ryok on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

As soon as I downloaded this game, I spent four hours continuously playing it! Iā€™m addicted!
I have a suggestion, though, it would be nice if the dev can add a help file or help section as well as a glossary to the game.
Iā€™d really like to thank the app developer for making this game accessible.

Iā€™d also like to thank matheus for beta testing the app, and making sure that itā€™s accessible!

By DrummerGuy on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

I have to admit that, at first, I didn't think I would like this game.
I was greatly surprised when I started playing. I am happy I decided to download and try this game.
I love it.

By dark on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

@Ryok, in game information can all be found on the official blightbane site which I posted the link to earlier, including cards, effects, monsters, events etc.

Anything you want to know can be found there, plus you can use the search function to look things up, which makes finding information and avoiding spoilers pretty easy.

By ming on Monday, January 22, 2024 - 03:59

I play it fo af w hours...
find that it is a goo game.
the music and the sounds are really good.

By Scorpion on Thursday, January 25, 2024 - 03:59

Does anyone have a tip for beating the slime monster in the swamp? It has a seemingly impossible buff to overcome where it keeps doubling its hit point counter. At one point it had over six thousand hp. šŸ˜¢

By Firefly on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

Just purchased some stuff for Dawncaster. I got the mega bundle pack, which includes three in a new areas, I also got the new map with the siege of shadows map. At least thatā€™s what I think itā€™s called.

By Ryok on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

@dark thanks so much, that helps a lot! I saw them earlier, but I forgot to check them out.

By Christel john on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

This game is so good. I bought the new expansion in the mega bundle.

By DrummerGuy on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

I, too, bought the mega bundle and the new expansion. This game is really awesome.
Very challenging. I am new to this type of game so I still have a lot of things to learn.

By Christel john on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

Perhaps this would be a good wake up call to developers to make their game accessible

By Firefly on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

So, here are my thoughts on some of the classes. Warriors seem to be some sort of a tank. They can really take on an opponent. Nights are pretty good too, I havenā€™t really made up my mind about the two major classes yet, I do like them, however, they seem to be Weak in terms of defense. Iā€™m not saying that as a slam against the developers. Thatā€™s just my opinion they do have some pretty awesome spells though.

By Tayo on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

I haven't played around with the warrior much, but the knight can really snowball armor with the right tools. The hunter with killer instinct is nigh unstoppable, and so is rogue. Arcanist I haven't mastered yet, and seeker requires some planning to make it work, but when it does work it works really well.

By DrummerGuy on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

Truthfully speaking, I never thought that playing with cards could be so fun.
Even though, I still have many things to learn, I am enjoying playing this game.
I am still trying to figure out many aspects of the game, but, I am confident that, little by little, I will Come to understand how to play this game much better.
I am not able to get too far into the game yet but, hopefully, once I understand more about the different tactics, I will be able to go a little bit farther.
So, my friends, I thank you in advance for all the help you'll be giving me later on. Lol. :-)

By Missy Hoppe on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

This has officially become my favorite iPhone game. I didn't think anything would ever appeal to me as much as Solara did, but this game has managed it! So far, I have only played the knight class; in general, that's the only class I have any real interest in, but I'm having a blast playing. I'm currently playing in story mode, just because I'm still kind-a new to this type of game, but I feel as though I'm slowly but surely figuring it out. I'm super excited to hear about the planned updates: descriptions of portraits, and all that fun stuff. Along those lines, I can't figure out if there's a place in character creation for choosing a race like elf, dwarf, etc. Maybe that's what portraits are for? I'd love to play as a female elf knight, but if that isn't possible, I can happily live with that. Also, it would be really neat if someday, we can save the player name we want to use, but if that isn't possible or appropriate for this type of game, typing in my preferred name really isn't too big of a deal. My only legitimate issue at the moment is that the game is murder on my phone's battery. Perhaps there isn't anything that can be done about that, but if any optomization for power usage ever could be possible, I'd gladly welcome it. If worst comes to worst, I can always plug my phone in while I'm playing, but I've heard on several occasions that we're not supposed to use our phones while they're charging.

Anyway, I've already bought every available expansion pack for this game as I want to support further accessibility of it as much as I possibly can. Let's hope that other developers follow this example, but even if they don't, I think this game will keep me entertained for years to come.

By Firefly on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

I have to agree with what you said Missy I think it is? Iā€™m sorry if I misread your name. This game is so fun. I have played every available class, though. I am not sure what the portraits do, and I have only ever managed to make it past the second boss fight, and that was in the Woods just after you leave Groot candle after talking with the head person there. I have bought the mega bundle, plus I bought the new map that they just came out with. Is there anything else that is worth getting? As far as expansion packs go? Thereā€™s an orange pack, but Iā€™m not sure if that is something new or if that is just containing the woods leading up to boot candle which you start out with anyways.

By Jonathan Candler on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

This game is so much fun and so addicting! So much content, even with the base game, but I got all the expansion packs as well! This thing tops my collection of ROGUELITE games out there on my phone, all though them too have a special place in my heart. Cyber cards, Congerry, and now this? What's next!

By DrummerGuy on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

Cybercards and conjury are awesome, too.
I am having so much fun, even though, I am still learning how to play this type of games.
I hope I can make it beyond the second boss in Dawncaster.

By matheus rheine on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

hey everyone! this makes me so happy to know you're having the time of your life with this masterpiece, I felt exactly the same way, and I can guarantee it will improve even more with the next updates! for the next one, you will be able to access the weekly challenge, the bug with the merchant and cards disappearing when you transmute a card is fixed, and announcements during battle are much improved! also, the energy of a card will be read after its name instead of the description! you will love it!

By DrummerGuy on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

Thank you for letting us know about the update that's coming soon for this fantastic game.
I'm pretty sure that We'll all be eagerly waiting.
Smiley

By ming on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

can we have online battle

By Firefly on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

I canā€™t wait. Iā€™ve been wondering what those weekly challenges are about for a while now.

By matheus rheine on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

you can download it now! if it doesn't show the update manualy, you can go to app store, and search for dawncaster.

By Firefly on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

Sweet! Gonna go check it out right now.

By Firefly on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

When I click on challenges within the app, it doesnā€™t really display anything. Itā€™s completely accessible though, does this mean there are no challenges that I put presently available? Again, I could be completely missing something on my end.

By matheus rheine on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

when you're in the main menu and choose leaderboards, it should display an option to start the weekly challenge. the next screen should have all the options for you to configure a run.
are you running the latest update released an hour ago? should be version 1.12.02. I believe you need to be connected to the internet for the challenges to appear.

By Firefly on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

Yes, I am, I just updated a few minutes ago. I will go back and try again. This could be something on my end.

By Firefly on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

I got it working. Wish me luck. In the set up it wanted me to enter a Discord username. I do have a Discord but kind of forgot my username. Luckily I can login and see it for future reference.

By DrummerGuy on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

I am definitely having such a blast with this game.
The update has made it even more interesting.
I just love this game.

By Firefly on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

I plan on doing a play through of this game on my YouTube channel. It wonā€™t be a tutorial of how to do everything exactly, do I will briefly go through the menus. And of course I will play through a run of the game.

By Missy Hoppe on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

Hi! I am still loving this game a lot. I am just curious, though. Can anyone suggest the best settings for minimizing the amount of drain on my battery while playing? I typically have screen curtain on, which hopefully helps some, but maybe there are other settings from within the game that I can change so that it isn't as battery intensive. If someone could please share their wisdom, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

By Jonathan Candler on Thursday, February 1, 2024 - 03:59

Hello, I guess what I can say is try closing apps you don't need running and turn down your screen brightness to 0. Even if screen curtain is on, your brightness is still producing energy and can drain your battery. You can also turn off background app refresh on apps you don't need refreshing in the background as well. HTH. I do know that there are performance settings in the game too but haven't really played with em much.
