This case is designed so you don’t have to remove the writer for any reason other than if you had to send the unit in for repairs the top compartment is made of a stretchable material that will fit a charging cable. Note it will only fit the charging cable and not a charging cable and charger block. For best results I would recommend using a wire tie to tie up your cable. An example of wire ties you could use can be found at the following link.

To insert the writer in the case, do the following:
1 unsnap the straps.
2 gently lift up the strap keeping the strap and snaps held up while inserting the writer in the case. If you don’t do this it won’t work.
3 slide the writer in from the back. It goes keys first or where the lanyard would go first.
4 Slide it all the way to the front.
5 Snap the snaps shut. That’s all There is to it

What I love about this case:
1 all keys and the charging port are accessible and there is no need to remove it.
2 it is padded so if you drop the writer, it is truly protected.
3 the antiskid material is awesome! It doesn’t slide around when on a desk, table, or on your lap.
4 the magnetic closure on the case is awesome and works great.
5 you have the strap that can go around your neck or over your shoulder and allow for typing while outdoors, in a line, in a car or on a bus or train, ETC. You can literally use your writer on the go. Add in that the Orbit writer properly supports the old north American Braille code or AEB as it may be known to some. It has support for the following devices and systems: apple watch, Windows, Mac, iOS, chrome box and Android support it is truly the best. It can connect to and switch between 5 Bluetooth devices and one device via cable for a total of 6 devices quickly and easily. Even with the case its still cheaper than its closest competitor there is no reason not to use an orbit writer! For more information about the orbit writer go to

I would highly recommend this case and it is absolutely worth the cost.

This is a really attractive product, both the case and the device. it's just the lack of USB-C which puts me off. I emailed them a few months back when you posted about the device, and they were pretty non-commital about any forthcoming updates. I know it's not the most expensive of devices, but it's still £130 here in the UK and, for that, I'd expect modern specs. Bit fed up with manufacturers shovelling us last gen tech because it is specialist equpiment.

I wouldn't let it being micro USB put you off. Yes I agree there should be a USB C version but you gotta look at the cost of changing it. It isn't just as simple as changing the port. The thing would need to be redesigned. I suspect if they came out with a new model it would be USBC. As for them not saying much about a new product a lot can disrupt or change timelines.

I don't think there is a huge change for USB-c. They replaced my micro usbc port on my Vario Ultra without too much effort. . I believe the port is a very similar size and it's just a case of dropping in a different connector.

It says 3 days usage on the product info, is that 72 hours of use or some guessed amount of usage during a working day? I mean, if the battery is good enough, maybe the micro USB becomes less of an issue. I just don't tend to carry anything but USB-C these days in my tech pouch.

Also, is it instant connection with iphone/ipad? With my Vario Ultra there is always a really long wait for connection unless I use the new reconnect function in IOS 18.

Finally, the navigation keys, could you describe them? I know this is all off product description, IE, the case, but that does sound like something I'd also pick up, should it not be too bultky.

The case is excellent. The navagation keys are a up arrow, left arrow, Right arrow, and a down arrow. There is a select button in the middle. It is a padded case so it truly protects your unit. It is 3 days of usage. I've gotten less and sometimes more. Remember I use this every day and I have a second for when the first one is on the charger. :) The connection is pretty quick. If there is an issue that is on iOS but most of the time it just connects.
