thanks for sharing this
wow!
thanks for sharing this !
want to know that any new voices in british english and so on
There are a few that are OK.
Most to me are awful, but it might be fun to mess around with some of them.
Sweet!
This is also now posted on the "Top Tech Tidbits for Thursday" website and was in today's edition of their e-newsletter. I can't wait to try out all of these. I used Eloquence on Windows and really liked it, and it's refreshing to see it coming to iOS and Mac OS.
Dutch voices
Hello,
Can you probably give a list of the Dutch (Netherlands and Belgium) voices that are in iOS 16?
Thanks
Regards
Interesting
Interesting voices. Like Jo Billard said, some are pretty good and some, like Ralph, really live up to their American slang term. One of the things that cracks me up about some of these "high" and "premium" voices is that while they are decent, if you listen closely on Windows machines, most of them really struggle with saying "JAWS", the program they are purportedly supporting. As stated in a previous post, while it is nice to have more choices, the focus really should have been on improving the responsiveness of some of Apple's own voices, not porting over ancient technology.
Regardless of how I feel about these voices, kudos to Thomas for yet another awesome podcast. n
Voices
The only 2 that are worth are Evan and Nathan.
RE: Voices
Zoe is also okay, but only the premium voice.
zoe and nathan are good and eloquence is very fast
well,
I have 3 choices for the new english voices.
1. Zoe,
2. Nathan,
and
3. eloquence.
and I think Lowell and Joel are the same voices
hope someone will demonstrate the UK british and the australia s
I hope someone can demonstrate the UK british and austrailia voices. if they have some new installment
Pipe Organ!
How dare you forget to demonstrate the almighty Pipe Organ voice! It makes me incredibly happy that voice is now available. It was the voice that originally made me want a Mac because of how cool it sounded.
On a more serious note, it's great we're finally getting more of a variety of voices to choose from. This is exactly what I wanted them to do in the iOS 6 and 7 days. The classic Mac voices like Ralph and of course Eloquence should satisfy those wanting more of a formant speech option that's more responsive.
the United kingdom voices.
Hello chaps hope you are all-right. Just wanted to know if you guys will show us the Almighty Receive pronunciation and the Scottish voice.
Great Walkthrough
Thanks Thomas for another great walkthrough. I like the voice options that are currently available on my Mac and iPhone, and these additional options will be awesome. I only used Flo briefly so it'll be good to get to know her better, lol. I hope Glen is eventually added, as well as the others from back in the day. But one step at a time, right?
Masculine voices for once
I am pleased to hear that two of the voices have the deep throated masculine sound. Apple was on a tear in the last few years adding wimpy beta male voices.
How about other languages?
I'm going to join with those pleading for a look across the pond: what do we in Britain have to look forward to? Which Englishmen, irishmen and Scotsmen does Apple have lined up? and I think someone has also asked about Dutch and Belgian voices here too. 20 American voices is great but I'd love to hear about some of the others. It would be great to have an iPhone read a joke about an englishman, and Irishman and a Scotsman and voice all the different characters in the joke.
Looking forward to trying Nathan or Evan
Most of the other new voices don't do a thing for me, but I use Nathan with JAWS, so would be interested to try him out on my iDevices. I'm also a big fan of Evan, so will be curious to find out if I'll prefer him over my buddy Alex. Thanks for the demo!
My united kingdom does not get a lot of attention.
As a half Englishman, the choices does not satisfying. My American side has rejuvenated because of the voice option, but what about a-crosse the pond? in my opinion, the other languages should bee have a shout-out besides the UK english.
Voices
For UK voices, you can use Stephanie and Malcolm. Fiona for Scottish English is also available, along with all the Indian English voices. You can also use Matilda for Australian English. It appears Apple has updated to the latest version of Vocalizer and added the entire range of available voices.
Awesome to see Eloquence is in Voice over
Nice podcast Thanks Thomas!!!! Apple hit a home run Nice job by Apple listening to its customers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Welsh?
Men of Harlech, stop thy dreaming, can you hear the voices screaming? welsh is clearly just for streaming, bad luck, Harlech men. Scottish English voices, Many US choices, Cape Town, Sydney, market Blandings, dialects for your understanding, While the offering's e'er expanding, Welshmen never yield!
I'm not Welsh, but surely there's a Geraint or a Nerys knocking about somewhere? And another thing, why is the English English voice referred to as British English? Scottish English is British English too, don't ya know? 20 American voices...do americans have 20 pairs of ears?
International Voices I’m Interested In
Greetings.
I will join with the chorus of folks here asking for a demo of the other non-US-English voices.
And I, personally, am also interested in the new Italian and Greek voices as I know both Italian and (Ancient) Greek.

Downloaded the beta and I especially love Noell. She äounds like a little child.
Joelle And Noel
So what exactly is the difference between Joelle and Noel? Just wondering. I think they sound exactly the same.
Welsh Would Be Interesting
Subject is pretty accurate. I'm currently enrolled in my second free course from Open University. I looked through a lot of their free offerings last week, and it seems they offer some courses written in Welsh. I don't speak or understand that language, but I'd be interested to hear VoiceOver and/or Siri read in Welsh. Or even just a Welsh accent. There used to be a guy at my church from Wales, who was a frequent lay reader. He of course read in English, but had a cool accent.
I’m confused about the two voices, Joel and Noel, they sound the
They both sound the same, what’s the difference?
they are different
One is lower in pitch, and the other is higher in pitch.
