Not quite correct about effects

Your description of effects was when you send a message without going into the effects screen, the message just appears on the other person's a little incorrect.device as a notification--nothing special happens.

On the effects screen, there are two types of effects--bubble and screen. Bubble is not the default, but simply the left-most category, which is why it is selected when you open the effects screen. Bubble and screen are not in and of themselves effects, but only the name of categories. Bubble effects only change how the individual message notification appears on the other person's screen, while screen effects add an animation to the screen that involves other objects such as balloons, confetti or fireworks.
