Please give more info about the VPN unlimited that you got. Was easy to install? How accessible? How much for unlimited. It is nice that you did the free but what about if someone wanted to get one without limit? Thanks.

VPN Unlimited History
Sure, a couple of years ago when I was seeking for a VPN service. I saw that PC Mag's Top VPN for 2017 was given to VPN Unlimited. It was their Editor's Choice pick at that time. Unfortunately, over the years better services have come along to topple VPN Unlimited. As they offer more servers options and some folks were skeptical and confused on where VPN Unlimited stand in terms of data sharing. Unfortunately, there are so many articles that will wildly vary on how and what they think of VPN Unlimited. It is one of the cheaper one out there to use. So, you will and should do some researching on your own to make sure to get that the best fit your needs.
Make sure you check out the links that I have in the show notes above.
There is a sale on the VPN Unlimited if you are interested at:

As for being accessible. Yes, I find that VPN Unlimited is very accessible or as accessible enough for me to use. It has a Start button when you open the app itself. Just double tap on that and it will start the VPN. It has options like FaceID protection to use the app. I also like that I can keep it on all of the time and I can simply place networks like my house on exception which means it will turn off when I come home automatically and then turn on automatically when I go in to other services. Essentially over time you can simply forget and store it away deep inside of your folders. Knowing that VPN is on when I am visiting wi-fi that I don't trust automatically. This keeps me from having to turn on VPN when I need to.

Thomas
Slow Down
Hi Tom,
Maybe it's just me, but after I selected the 2 gb free option when setting up my Windscribe account, I noticed my iPhone 10s slowed down appreciably, even though I never turned windscribe on. I am still waiting to be away from my private, already secure wi-fi home network before I try turning windscribe on.
To be sure Windscribe is turned off, I went back in to the app and setting, and it is off, but even so, my speed seems to have slowed down. Now, admittedly, I've noticed it most in Lords and Knights, a game I've been playing, but other apps also seem to have slowed down a little.
Meanwhile, I also noticed a strange high frequency static-like sound at the very beginning of telephone conversations. Is all this normal?
Anyway, I've been debating deleting Windscribe to see if the Lords and Knights speed improves. I assume it's a simple as can be to reload Windscribe from the App Store and log back in to my account, so I can't see that I have much to lose.
Thank you for you podcast. Like them all, I find your explanations simple and to the point, always a plus in my book.

Testing by Removal
Hi Bruce,
Yes, that is very odd, and I have not personally seen this issue. As you say. It is as simple as removing the app from the phone. This will remove the profile along with it. I would be curious if things do speed up a bit when it has been removed. The two sections to see and make sure that it isn't on is in the Settings -> VPN and make sure it says Not Connected. The other is obviously with in the WindScribe app itself. To re-install it. It is simple as downloading the app again. It will ask the various questions again but this time you have a standard login credentials that can be used. Once entered you are back of where you had it.
Keep me posted on your findings as I am curious about this.
Cheers,
Thomas
Hi Thomas
Happily, just as I sat down this morning to delete windscribe, I did a last check to see if the slowdown was still happening. It wasn't! My phone is now back to its normal, speedy self. I assume the slowdown must have been in my local network or something in the beyond-my-house internet system, for example, peak public demand, or my wife may have been watching the news on her iPad.
I did notice in settings that Ad guard Pro was connected via my VPN, but I assume it being connected wouldn't noticeably affect transmission speed, and in any event, the problem now appears to be gone.
Thank you for replying.
Best,
Bruce
windscribe
I did it. Got the 10 by using my google email that I never use. What is add configuration? Saw this in setting under VPN and in the app? Do I need to setup this. Also saw the unlimited use by did not know how much they wanted. Do you know? Thanks.
Follow Up and Answers
Hi Bruce and Holger,
Holger,, glad to hear that you were able to get the WindScribe to work. Pricing for WindScribe for unlimited is about $9.00 a month. However, if you look around for sales, I've seen them offering $40 for a lifetime service. I also highly recommend Proton VPN which offers unlimited for free but is very limited in terms of server selections. But, for $4 a month you can get a higher data transmission and a lot more servers for faster speed. Proton VPN is as accessible and easy to use.
Bruce, hey thanks for following up of your results and findings. Glad to hear that it wasn't the VPN profile itself but merely your wi-fi being busy. Well, kind of glad as I understand completely. When the wife is watching Netflix and the son is going nuts on his PlayStation Online. It can be hairy to find any bandwidth left for me to use. ;)
Cheers,
Thomas
