In this podcast, David Woodbridge introduces us to the recently released Apple AirPods. He tells us what we will find in the box; gives us a physical description of the AirPods and their charging case; and then talks us through his experience of using them with an iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV.
For those unfamiliar with the Apple AirPods, this is how they are described by Apple:
AirPods will forever change the way you use headphones. Whenever you pull your AirPods out of the charging case, they instantly turn on and connect to your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac. Audio automatically plays as soon as you put them in your ears and pauses when you take them out. To adjust the volume, change the song, make a call or even get directions, just double-tap to activate Siri.
Driven by the custom Apple W1 chip, AirPods use optical sensors and a motion accelerometer to detect when they’re in your ears. Whether you’re using both AirPods or just one, the W1 chip automatically routes the audio and engages the microphone. And when you’re on a call or talking to Siri, an additional accelerometer works with beamforming microphones to filter out background noise and focus on the sound of your voice. Because the ultra-low-power W1 chip manages battery life so well, AirPods deliver an industry-leading 5 hours of listening time on one charge. And they’re made to keep up with you, thanks to a charging case that holds multiple additional charges for more than 24 hours of listening time. Need a quick charge? Just 15 minutes in the case gives you 3 hours of listening time.

Can we play music from our phone and control it from our watch with AirPods
yes, as long as...
Yes, as long as the "Now Playing" page has been added to the watch face. I haven't tryed it, as I haven't gotton the airpods. Once I do I will comment back with the results.
No Multipoint
Unfortunately, the W1-chips (AirPods, PowerBeats3) do not support multipoint, which allows for seemless transition between difference devices. FOr more info:

The LG HBS-1100 I continue to use is able to seemlessly switch between Mac and iPhone.
switching between iPhone and
switching between iPhone and Mac is cool, but kinda annoying. I find that if I'm listening to music on my iPhone and my headphones are also connected to my MBP, audio on the phone will stutter from time to time as the headphones try to play audio from the MBP. It goes away if I manually disconnect from the MBP.
Using Airpods on an Apple Watch
Hello everyone,
I have had some success using Airpods with my Apple watch. Here is what I do.
1. I remove one of the Airpods from the charging case, and set it down on the table. It is important to not put the Airpod in your ear at this time.
2. Go to the watch face and flick up twice to open the control panel, double tap the watch face.
3. Flick right until you hear air play. Double tap the watch face. 4. Flick right until you hear Airpods. Double tap the watch face. 5. Now you can put the Airpod in your ear. The focus will stay on the Apple watch as long as you do not use the iPhone.
The quickest way to change the focus to the iPhone, is to do a two finger double tap on the screen to start music. The focus will switch to the iPhone almost immediately.
In order to change the Airpods' focus back to the Apple watch, you must remove the Airpods from your ears and repeat the above steps.
It is not elegant, but it does work.
