Hi all
I am here to proudly bring you instructions on how to set up text message forwarding under iOS 8.1 and later.
First, you must have an iPhone 4s or later running at least iOS 8.1. Second, you must have any iPad or iPod Touch, also running at least iOS 8.1. If you plan to enable your mac for text message forwarding, it must be running OS X Yosemite or later.
Now that's out the way let's get started.
1. On your iPhone, go to settings, double tap messages then double tap text message forwarding.

As VoiceOver users on the Mac, we all love short cuts. They make our life and computer experience easier. Most of us are familiar with the basics, when in mail Command N for a new message, and Command Shift D to send that message. We have to learn all of these keyboard commands to use our Macs. I am here to tell you that once you have gotten comfortable using your Mac, there are even more ways to speed up performance. Today I want to discuss Keyboard Commander.

What Are Tags?

Starting in macOS 10.9 Mavericks, files could be given one or more "tags", to help users keep things organized. A tag is simply a text label you can assign to a file, letting you organize your files with categories instead of, or in addition to, folders. For example, a student might have a science folder, holding a textbook, handouts, tests, notes, assignments, research papers, and more. What if a quiz deals with thermodynamics, as do some files of notes and a paper.

The default Mail app on the Mac is easy enough to use once you set up your mail accounts. You up and down arrow through your messages, press delete to trash some, and… Wait, how do you read messages? Enter? VO-J? Use the preview? When writing a message, how do you choose contacts, or add multiple contacts to a field? Why is it so hard to view attachments? How do you add mailboxes to your favorites bar, so you can access them with hotkeys? Okay, so Mail isn't as simple as it first seems, but that's why AppleVis exists.

For iOS 17, macOS Sonoma

If you have an iPhone, you’re probably fairly familiar with the Messages app on iOS, using it to send and receive texts, photos, videos, and other files. As part of Apple’s interconnected ecosystem, this capability is also available on macOS.

Greetings Applevis-ionaries. (visionaries) I wanted to share a method I devised this morning while working with a low vision client for turning your MacBook into a CCTV using your iPhone.

You will need to have a camera stand which can hold your iPhone at about 10 inches above the item you are wanting to magnify. I used a folding, portable old-style scan stand unit with an internal light strip I’ve had for over a decade by now, and it worked beautifully.

What's a Commander?

A commander is a really handy feature of VoiceOver. With it, you can quickly move around, change a setting, or even run an app or Applescript file. Commanders are very useful and, among many other things, they are an easy way to give the Mac a way to speak the time and date with a single keystroke.

There are four commanders in total, but the ones available to you will vary based on the hardware you have. They are:

I have recently used the Contacts app a lot in macOS and have come to discover how it works, which is not the way I expected it to. I thought I would share my hard-won knowledge in the hope that someone else will benefit.

If you're using a Multi-Touch trackpad, you can use VoiceOver gestures. VoiceOver provides a set of standard gestures for navigating and interacting with items on the screen. You can't modify this set of gestures. NOTE: Gestures that don't mention a specific number of fingers are single-finger gestures.

General

Enable the Trackpad Commander and VoiceOver gestures: VO-Two-finger rotate clockwise

Disable the Trackpad Commander and VoiceOver gestures: VO-Two-finger rotate counterclockwise

Turn the screen curtain on or off: Three-finger triple-tap

For a while now, VoiceOver portable preferences has bugged me, because it's so outdated. Today I decided to tackle the problem once and for all.

Aims:
What I wanted was a way to take my preferences with me wherever I go. I have 2 macs, one at my house, and one at the place I volunteer, which sort of doubles as a demo machine. So I wanted to be able to make awesome things happen at home, then have the changes reflected when I went to another mac, without the really serious risk that I'd lose my memory stick.

Introduction

This article will show you, the reader who uses a Mac with the Voiceover screen reader, exactly why I haven’t jumped ship and fled to Windows 10. I’ll compare the state of accessibility of Windows and Mac as operating systems, features of first-party apps, advancements in first-party screen readers, and the outlook of accessibility at both companies. I will attempt to be objective in this article, so as to present my arguments in a logical and useful way.

Did you know that you can read the entire iPhone user manual through your browser online? This is also true for Mac, iPad, Apple watch and even the older iPod.
This quick guide though focuses on iPhone.
When you pull up the manual, the default is the current iOS, iOS 16 as of this writing. But a drop-down box lets you select an older version of the user guide. It will change to a newer iOS as the default when that is released.
