Good morning,
I'd like to use my BrailleSense 6 as a Braille display with jaws but in order to do that, I must pair it.
That's where I need your assistance.
I'm unable to get my Windows 11 laptop to pair with the unit via bluetooth & I also tried pairing via usb, using the usbc cable, which can also be used to charge the unit, but still no luck.
Does anyone have suggesttions of what I might try next?
I'm using JAWS2024, with the March update.
Windows 11 is also up-to-date.

Jaws and braille display
Hi,
Does JAWS even support this display? Have you tried going into JAWS options and checking the Braille display settings. Never tried it but you maybe able to pair from within those settings.

Thanks so much for the suggestion.
There is an option for, "Hims Braille" in JAWS, but according to their support people, if I want to pair via bluetooth, I need to know the "com port" but don't see the option for that when I look at the device under bluetooth settings on my computer.
Is there anything else I may be able to try to get things working?
Settings
Have you checked in jaws braille settings advanced? I don't have a display but maybe in the advanced settings it may show there. No idea to be honest. Most displays these days just connect with JAWS.
I've had issues with Hims displays too.
This isn't just a you problem. I had a qBraille for years and darn near every time I connected it with Jaws I had do configure the braille options for Hims displays and restart jaws. I think they really want people to just use the Focus ... it got to the point that I just used NVDa for most things and only fiddled with it and jaws when I absolutely had to.
COM ports
If you'd like to connect your braille display via Bluetooth, you'll need to test each COM port that appears in the list. You may need to try each one a couple of times.
A correction to Holy Diver
It isn't just Focus displays that have an easier setup process. My current display, a Brailliant BI 40X from HumanWare, doesn't require you to select a COM port when pairing it with JAWS.
there are several issues with the way HIMS displays interface with JAWS, but don't bash Vispero for HIMS not improving their braille display drivers.

Where do I go to find the com port list?
I’ve contacted Hims tech support via email & they said I’d find it in Bluetooth settings, right next to the device name. They said it should come up, once I click the device name but I’ve tried that several times & it doesn’t work.
What might I be missing?
Where to find the COM port list
In the Braille dialog within JAWS, find HIMS Braille in the list, then press Tab to reach the Modify button and activate it. In the list that appears, there should be an option for USB and then several COM ports. Select a COM port, click OK to close all the dialogs, restart JAWS and see if your display connects. If it doesn't connect, try another COM port.

Fair enough, though I will say my nls eReader does not automatically connect with jaws consistently even though it also does not need the manual com port input. Like it's fine as long as I don't have any other displays in the mix but as soon as I connect another display I often have to go reconfigure Jaws for Humanware again. I didn't really mean to bash Vespero, it makes sense they want their display to work especially well with their screen reader but I can see how it came off that way.
