Looking for a wireless keyboard and mouse combo for Windows

Hello all,

Before I explain what requirements I have about the keyboard and mouse combo, here is the story behind why I'm looking for it.

I'm currently using the first generation MX Keys keyboard and the Logitech M235 mouse. I have the keyboard and the mouse since October 2022 (almost 3 years).

I'm a vision impaired screen reader user and because of that, the arrow keys (the separate ones) are the ones that I use the most on a keyboard. Also, again due to me being a screen reader user and using the keyboard both for work and personal stuff, the keyboard is very heavily used.

A few months ago, I've noticed that the down arrow key has started feeling a bit more loose than the other keys (even than the other three arrow keys). After some more time, the same down arrow key, while pressing it, would cave in into the keyboard's case on its bottom left corner and pop out of the case on its top right corner. Each time that happened, I had to wiggle it a bit to make it click back in its place. Last night however, that down arrow key has become so loose, that it came out of the keyboard's case. It didn't pop out completely though - something seemed to be holding it. I'm afraid however, that some day even that holding part will brake and that down arrow key will completely pop out of the keyboard's case and become unusable.

And even though keyboards such as this MX Keys are not cheap, I would consider replacing it if necessary. But what's holding me back from doing are the facts that for one, all other keys are OK, and for another - the battery is still holding up. On the other hand, this down arrow key is one of the most important keys for me on the keyboard and using the keyboard without it is practically impossible. Also, if I replace this keyboard with a newer model, I have to get a newer model mouse as well, since my current one (the Logitech M235) uses a unifying receiver as does my model of the MX Keys keyboard, and the newer models use the lightning (bolt) receiver and as far as I know, those two receivers are not compatible with each other.

I asked Logitech if replacing the problematic key is possible and the answer was no.

So, I've started looking for a new keyboard and mouse combo to eventually replace the MX Keys and M235.

Here's what I'm looking for:

- Wireless connectivity via a USB receiver for both the keyboard and the mouse. If they have Bluetooth connectivity as well - good. But no only Bluetooth connectivity - sometimes it is unreliable.
- As standard keyboard layout as possible:
-- NumPad.
-- 6-pack (Insert, Delete, Home, End, Page Up and Page Down).
-- Dedicated "Applications" key.
-- F-keys grouped by 4 keys.
-- If FN functionality is present, the F-keys should act by default as F-keys and not multimedia keys.
-- Presence of "Pause", "Print Screen" and "Scroll Lock" keys. Specially the "Print Screen" key - sometimes I need to make screenshots and it is useful to have the dedicated key for that.
- The mouse could be a basic one with 2 buttons, a scroll wheel and 1000dpi resolution.

I'm not after a particular brand - I just want it to be reliable.

I'm considering the Logitech MK295 combo. It's basic, but I had their MK270 combo and it was reliable. If the MK295 one is as reliable as the MK270, that would be nice.

Still though, I'm asking for suggestions / recommendations.

P.S.: I had other keyboards and mice from the Logitech brand before and didn't have any issues with them. So, I was expecting this expensive Logitech keyboard to last a long time. Alas... My previous keyboard and mouse combo (the Logitech MK270) lasted much more and it was much cheaper. I'm a bit disappointed...

Thanks much in advance!

I really like the 270 by Logitech. Mainly because it's compatible in every way. It has the context key. It has a six pack. It has a num pad and the feel is pretty good. And I have no performance issues.

I have had many wireless keyboards and they've all been a pain in one way or another. This one has been great.

One thing I did because I use it as a multimedia device is map the Email and web browser buttons to previous track and next track. I used power toys from Microsoft.

I could never get the Logitech software to work for me. Too complicated and did not work well with any screen reader. Fortunately, this one doesn't need a driver or any software to use. Remapping keys is fairly easy with power toys once you get the hang of the way power toys works. the.Logitech MK295 sounds a lot like the 270 but quieter. I hope it's built as well or better. There are some negative reviews about the build and latency issues on Amazon. The 270 is still available on Amazon.
