Volume still messed up after updating to WatchOS 11.3.

I was told that the volume issues I have experienced in Watch OS 11 would be fixed by OS 11.3 but that has not happened. Is there a fix that I don't know about, something in settings that maybe I can change?

Hi KJW810,

What issues specifically are you still having? This may help us make suggestions for a workaround.

Thanks,
Michael

Hey,

You my want to check what volume is set in your control center. Swipe up with 2 fingers and look for the volume option. move it to 80%. I believe its the default.

Let us know if that's any better.

I tried lowering the control center volume from 100% to 80% with no change. I have the series 8 watch. Also, when I went to settings and sounds and haptics, I couldn't find volume in there.

My VoiceOver volume is fine. it's just that ever since I updated to iOS 11.0, my volume lowers drastically when I make or receive a phone call. When I am in the call, VoiceOver's volume is also very low, but when the call ends, VoiceOver's volume comes back up.

Watchos 11 indeed changed how volume is handled. When you're in a call or equivalent I think you just have to adjust the volume in that specific context and it will stay the same afterward if I understand the issue correctly.

Could that be the issue? Can it be disabled? Inquiring minds and all that jazz. :)

That is something i had never messed with. But I went in and discovered that audio ducking is off. Would a reset fix the problem?

Change the volume in the call with the digital crown, is see if that improves things

Thank you all so much for your help. I started moving it on the digital crown and it came up!!!

watchOS 11.3 finally fixed the issue that the volume of the watch turned up to 100% or turned down to 5% or anything else after having a call, invoking siri, alarm clock ringing etc. Now, the Volume works as follows (It's now more similar to iPhone and iPad):

  • Master Volume: This is the overall device volume. You can adjust it under Control Center > Volume.
  • VoiceOver speech volume: This is now independent of the master volume. You can adjust it by:
    • double-tapping and holding down with two fingers, and then swiping up or down after hearing a tone. If you're done, release the fingers.
    • Speech volume rotor: With this rotor option, you can easily change the VoiceOver speech volume
    • Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Audio: You can change the volume here as well

This means that VoiceOver's speech volume is now relative to the master volume of the system. As already pointed out in this thread, volume in calls is independent of all other volumes in exactly the same way as it's the case on iPhone and iPad.

What I dislike though is how the 80% sysvol and 40% vovol for example will have different iq than 50% sys and 40%VO. It's a minor change but very noticeable and from what I got from feedback they don't plan to fix it and say. it works as designed.

I think it‘s all working as desired now, so it‘s now working the same way as on iPhone and iPad. Or what do you exactly mean with iq?
