Keeping an app in session on this S2 watch/any other, how to do it?

watchOS and Apple Watch Apps

Hello,
As the subject states, I'm having trouble keeping an app in session and kinda but don't really know what that even means. How do people keep apps in session on this currrent series 2 watch as well as any others, that you have.
ASP
P.S. This watch doesn't seem to hold the app in session, but I did it yesterday pretty good, so don't know what I did. Also, off the topic, why would VoiceOver say "charger not supported," when it's the exact charging cable which came with the watch. Anyway, the adapter didn't but is from an Amazon Fire--basically the same shape as the apple iPhone adapter, though.

If i am understanding you right, the cable is what came with the watch, but the adapter is different. No bueno, or not a good idea. As much as Apple's overpriced ideas make me insane, I am very careful about buying MFI or Made for iPhone accessories, if not apple branded themselves. reason is, MFI means apple's said, yes this works with our stuff, whereas you have other, yep it works, then you get issues like you're having now. As for the in session comment, I have absolutely no idea what you mean. Have you looked for a software update? I'm guessing the watch isn't able to hold much but possibly there's a version of Watch OS you can run. Go to watch app, then your watch, say ashley's for example, then settings, general and software update. see if anything can be done. I realize a lot of these issues will be solved when or if you choose to upgrade to anything newer then your current situation. Hope that helped.

Any cable or charger needs to be Apple certify. If purchase under amazon, the product must indicate if it is certify by apple. FYI. If you keep an app running your battery will die quickly. Start saving money for a watch 7. Next OS that will come out this year will be better and unlikely to work with your watch. I do not think even OS 9 works with it.

Subject says it all, well almost. I can't even get my poor watch S2 to keep updating to Watch OS 9 like you have. Is that the case that you have to also buy a new Apple Watch every time a new update coms out for the OS? My watch charges fine, so I guess I don't need to keep apps open all the time/use them all the time either. However, if I unhook the Bluetooth from watch, it'll also "unpair it from your iPhone." I don't wanna do this, and please end this thread after you reply again. the point's been made.

No, you don't have to buy a new every single time a new os comes out, that would be pricy as heck. However, the older a device, at some point it'll stop beeing supported by software updates. Take ios 16 as an example. When ios 16 came out, iphone 7 became unsupported, meaning while you can still use it without any problems, you won't be able to update it to the latest os version, and this is what's happening with your watch series 2. Its no longer able to receive software updates given it won't support them. Generarly, once you buy a watch, say if you where to buy a series 7 or 8, which are the newer watches, 8 is the newest moddle at the moment, you'd be good for 4, 5 years until it stopped beeing supported do to beeing to old. Hope that helps. As an example, I bought my apple watch series 4 in 2018, and it still supports watch os 9, that's 5 years more or less, however I did end up buying a watch series 8 as my 4 though still supported was getting a bit... old. That should give you a time estimate of if you want to use your watches until their last legs, that should give you a rough estimate of when do devices stop beeing supported software wise. I'm guessing th newest watch os will drop support for series 4, but its just a wild guess.

Are you sure this wasn't meant for a different topic? I only ask because i'm not seeing someone asking to delete this topic or anything, at least not this topic.

Hi. No i wasn't mistaken, because every post after the point has been made, the OP asks to delete the thread. If you read back you might see it. :) I was just trying to help her. Have a good one.

You have a very old watch and what you want to do is not possible or easy to do with it. That would be like having a iPhone 5 and still asking if you could do a or b on it. Is time to save money and get a new watch. Can you say amazon!!!!!!!
