Did Apple remove this feature? No biggy if so, but just checking.

watchOS and Apple Watch Apps

I surely cannot be this stupid.

It used to be in the ECG app on the watch, as soon as you placed your finger on the digital crown to start the scanning process, you heard this really weird sound that honestly kind of reminded me of space alian invaders. LOL! Sorry if that makes you laugh, but that's honest to god the only way I know to describe it.

Also, when in the app, before placing your finger on the crown, if you flicked through the screen, there was an option to toggle that sound on or off.

I don't know when this started happening, as I don't normally do ECG readings manually, but today, just for the heck of it, I decided, since I got a new shiny Apple Watch Ultra, to give it a try. Sadly, not only is it not making that sound, which I know a lot found annoying, I actually loved, it also no longer seems to have that icon anymore to turn it on or off either. And there's nothing in the ECG page of options on the watches settings, nor in the Watch app itself on the phone. Nothing either in the actions rotor to do it anywhere within the app on the watch when I looked. My brother who has an Apple Watch Series 7 also is having this problem. I upgraded from the series 4, and I know at least there the last I knew it did it. All be it, since Watch OS 9.1, I've not tried. Actually, I don't know in Watch OS 9 anything! if I've tried. I can't recall. I know though in Watch OS 8 though, it definitely! definitely! did it.

Again, it's not really per sé a big deal. I'm just wondering if it was entirely removed, or if there's just some setting really barried somewhere in the ozone of madness that I'm not seeming to locate that would turn this back on.

The feature is still there. You have to use magic tap to turn the audio on/off. I'm using the latest version of Watch OS and it still works. Sometimes you have to use explore by touch to hear the hint about turning the audio on/off.

That's what so cockeyed about this. On my old series 4, I just tested, and you're exactly right. It's there, and magic tap does indeed turn it on/off. For some reason though, my brother who is using Voiceover on a series 7 isn't having any luck with the magic tap, nor exploring the screen, and neither am I, and I'm on the Ultra baige yellow trail model. Like I said, works fine on my series 4, but not the others. And yes, I definitely am on Watch OS 9.1, and so is my brother. My series 4 where it is! working also is on 9.1. go figure.

I have a series 8 aluminium GPS and on Watch OS 9.0 I heard the sound you referred to, I liked it too. I just tried the ECG now and it’s gone for me too.
