APPLE WATCH SIRI

G'day Chuck, Thanks for your message. In my delight I probably wasn't very clear. I was talking about Siri not Voice Over. I take it that they are two separate entities- on the Watch as on the iPhone. I envy you as I don't yet have a Watch and am eagerly awaiting its appearance in my distant corner of Australia:"Due in the Spring! "i.e. next month.
The podcast which makes it all clear is No 718 (April 30th '15)
I have watched two YOuTube reviews: one regretting the absence of an audible, chatty Sir and the other pleased with her silence. Perhaps David could demonstrate how (vocal) Siri could be activated.

Hi Sybil,
I went to the podcast and was pleasantly surprised to hear the text message read back.
Actually, David uses Siri dictation to write the message and voice over to read it back by touching the screen.
When I use the messaging app to dictate a text, I can not get the watch to read it back to me before I send.

I just tried Siri dictation on a text to myself. Worked perfectly!

BTW. David Woodbridge does an excellent job with these podcasts.

SIRI does not speak on Apple Watch in version 1.0.1 of the O/S. All speech is via VoiceOver. There is no way to get SIRI to speak on the Watch at this time. Whether this might change in version 2.0 of the O/S is debateable, but I suspect it's unlikely unless anyone knows different.

Thank you David -and for all your other reviews which I have been following avidly. I thought Siri sounded a bit strange but how come Voice Over tells you the same joke Siri on my iPhone tells me and how come VO has a sense of humour?Actually it doesn't really matter as the set up seems to work as effectively as I was hoping for.
