Apple Watch question: Anyone else experienced this, or is it just me?

Hello. Hope all’s well. Thought I’ll throw this one out there..

I’ve beenusing the first generation Apple Watch for almost 2 years now. And there’s something that really annoys me.

When I am out and about, I turn the Apple Watch Voiceover volume to maximum. The cuff of my shirt or jacket touches the screen and the Apple Watch activates and the voice reads out the time. Happens when I hold onto the handles on a train, when I open doors, or swap my white stick to my left hand. Basically, anyother time I move my left arm. I live in London, and the weather is not always short sleeves or tee-shirt agreeable. I don’t want to turn the volume dowm, nor switch off VO, defeats the purpose.

I have given Apple feedback on this several times, suggesting to add an option to disable the touch screen when VO is on, and the watch is on standby. Watch speaks and reactivates when pressing the side button or digital crown. But until Apple implements this, I just want to ask if anyone else has this issue, or is it just me? If you do, how do you over come this? If at all?

Any advise or quick fixes welcome… Or even a general windge about it…. Haha..

Thanks..

Hi, I do at times have the watch announce the time, but normally, that is because I have tilted my wrist up to the point that it presses the crown and makes the watch speak. Perhaps in your case, it could be the "Speak on Wrist Raise" function that is enabled? I know you can find that setting in the watch app under General, Accessibility, VoiceOver. I have also turned on the option "Cover to Mute" found under the Sounds and Haptics settings. Hope this helps!

Hi.. Thanks for the suggestions... I do have "Raised to Speak" disabled, and "Cover to Mute" enabled.. I also have "Tap to Speek" disabled, but think this is only for the Mickey and Minney watch faces.. Even now, tapping the watch screen once speaks the time.

I have the "Taptic Time" enabled, which is useful to discretely tell the time when in a meeting, so my idea of disabling the touch screen when on stand-by mode may not be such a great idea after all..

Thanks anyway for your input...

I know what you mean, mine will also go off when I am trying to put my dog's collar on, the tag will touch the screen and then I hear VO read out the time. Sometimes if something touches the screen twice, then I get the taptic time. It does get annoying at times, but that is also why I enabled the cover to mute, if it goes off, then I simply quickly place my hand over it to shut it up.

This is just something that us Apple Watch users will have to learn to live with.

I have experienced it a few times and I have reduced the volume which seemed like the only feasable option to me!
