possible bug with latest Apple TV OS

tvOS and Apple TV Apps

This bug is related to airplay. Over the weekend I updated my 4th gen Apple TV. When I tried to turn on airplay from the control center, it prompted me for a passcode. This has happened before and is normal. However, the problem came in when the pop-up came up on my TV, but the code was not read aloud. Thus, I could not enter the required code into my iPhone to complete the airplay pairing. I heard the popping noises when the pop-up came on the TV and when it went away. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, I tried it at least 3 times to see if it was a fluke and perhaps it just didn't read the first time. No dice.

If you use the airplay button that is built into any app, this doesn't happen. Those don't seem to require a passcode. I however at that moment didn't k now if the app I was using had an airplay button built in. I later thankfully discovered it did, but this is still problematic if I want to airplay something and there is not a button built into the app I want to use.

I had no idea there was a say all button command for the TV. If someone can tell me what it is, I'll be happy to test it and see if this is a work around for the bug I am experiencing.

Hi,
I had this same issue. I managed to get voice over to read me the code by flicking two fingers up on the gesture area of the Siri remote.
Hope this helps

Unfortunately, this is a regression in the recent TVOS update, where the AirPlay pairing code isn't automatically read. 2-finger swipe-up is a work-around, but hoping the previous usable experience will be restored.
