Considering an Apple TV. What do I need to know?

tvOS and Apple TV Apps

I need to replace my streaming device because it isn't working as well as it should, so I'm thinking of getting an Apple TV. This will be my first dealing with the Apple TV if I get one, so I really have no idea what to do with it. I would really appreciate any help you guys could give me, and thoughts as to whether or not I should even bother. I feel like my apps might work better on the Apple TV than they do on what I currently have, and the storage capacity has got to be better. Other than that, I really don't know.

Having the same question here. Also wondering about the accessibility of the Apple TV, will I have the same accessibility options on iOS and iPadOS or there are regressions?

Hi there,
A few years ago I would’ve said go ahead and get the Apple TV fourth generation or newer. But now I don’t think it is necessary.
The Apple TV app can accomplish almost everything that was on the Apple TV streaming box.
I am not aware of how you have your entertainment set up. Some advantages of the Apple TV R
Voiceover works the same as it does on most iOS devices.
You can use your iPhone Apple Watch or iPad to control the Apple TV device
Disadvantages are
The cost of the device
The remote control is very easy to lose
Most apps in the App Store are not voiceover accessible.

The main apps that are main stream are pretty accessible on the Apple TV hardware.
I feel that you can accomplish most of your viewing with just getting the Apple TV app.
Again I’m not aware of how you have your entertainment system set up.
The app is very accessible! The audio description is very easy to find and turn on!
Hope this helps
Stay safe

tv's now come with pretty good streaming apps. if you have a newish tv(last 3-4 years) you can use those apps and shoudln't have an issue. that being said if you want a box i would try and steer you away from apple only because of the price.

Apple tv 4K has not been updated in 3-4 years and its showing its age. both roku(not everyone's fav here it seems) and amazon offer cheaper and better solutions. also google has a new chromecast. for $180-$200 its extemely overpriced and the competition has caught up.

my recommendation would be to either get the new google chromecast $49.99 or amazon fire tv stick $39.99. as for accessibility neither is really fantastic but the chromecast does have the advantage where all of the apps are on your phone and if you have an iphone voiceover or whatever will help you.

the fire stick uses a modified version of android who's accessibility is really terrible. i think google should be ashamed and shamed in public for it.
