Anyone else ordered the new Apple TV?

tvOS and Apple TV Apps

I've been waiting for the release of the new apple tv since it was announced in September. Having been a UK Sky customer for the last 2 years and seen the price go up and up and up, I took the decision to get rid and drop my Sky bill from £70 to £16 for my broadband only. Also while the Sky plus app does offer some functions, it has gone through stage of total inaccessibility in it's time and I'm sure like everything else will continue to have ups and downs. The new accessibility and the third party apps convinced me that the Apple TV was the way to go. Personally as a sports fan I'm hoping for BT sport to appear as a TV app which as it's on the IOS appstore I'm sure it will. But general third party app capabilities is a huge plus for me as I would not have bought the old one due to so many of the built in services being unusable in the UK. Has anyone else been convinced enough to buy it?

I agree about the lack of useable Ap's on the current TV, so the fact that the new one has a dedicated Ap store can only be a good thing. I agree with you about the cost of Sky, but the thing that would make me be a little concerned to get rid of it and go down the Apple TV route is Audio Description. Unless someone sorts out an Ap with it built in I'm afraid I will not upgrade my current Apple TV just yet which is a pity because i love the features of the new one, please post when you get your new toy and let us know what your first impressions of it are.

Hi. I've ordered the new Apple TV. Been waiting for it since WWDC in June which hadn't appeared. Was using the 2nd gen Apple TV for a few years now. Not entirely what to expect from the TVOS and the apps, but I'm sure it would be an improvement from the 2nd gen. Hopeing it would have BBC iPlayer, ITV player etc with audio description. Been streaming via iPad, but would be refreshing to just get it straight off the TV. But placing my bets on audio description being more widely available on iTunes and Netflix in the next year. Either way, looking forward to it arriving soon.

I'm a regular user of the last generation TV and have ordered this new one. I am hoping for proper catchup apps to be available on it. Never did try Now TV because of the price.

I ordered mine yesterday. I am hoping for some radio apps as well as other applications. I have the second gen so I will be gaining audio discription on Netflix as well as siri. I think the siri fastforward rewind could be huge as well as being able to say things like possibley go the 8th inning of a game if it's archived on mlbtv.

My Apple TV will be here on Friday. I'm SUPER excited to see what's new, as I am also switching to the 4th from the second.
Good luck!
