Hi, browsing the apps directory today, I saw the free or paid option, I did see it before, but this idea jumped at me today. :D how about adding a new field for the price of the app if it is paid? sure we could just click on the link to the itunes store, which will open itunes on our pc or appstore on IOS devices, and view the price that way,but having this option saves time and I suppose allows us to be a bit lazy and don't do much. =P

Seems like a bit of a flawed idea in that app prices often drop for promotional purposes etc. It generally takes a while for most of the casual contributers here to find the time to update their entries, so adding another field that could easily become inaccurate doesn't seem like a great move to me.

We have considered this in the past, but have ruled it out for a number of reasons. Firstly, as already mentioned above, prices can, and often do, change. If we did show a price, I would still always recommend that people click through in case it has changed. Therefore, having the price serves no purpose, and might only result in misinformation. Also, the reality is that the more information that people are asked to provide when submitting an app to this site, the less likely they are to do so (even if that information is optional). Another consideration is that there are over 150 regional App Stores, and the server logs show that we get visitors from the majority of those countries. So, would people submit the cost of the app in their own country? If so, this would become rather messy. If we asked that the price be given in one specific currency (most likely the US Dollar), this would be unfair and more involved for those who are outside of the USA. Of course, the ideal solution would be that this, and other, information would be dynamically retrieved from the App Store, but for now that is not a viable option for us.

The problem there is that each country has different currency and probably different pricing too, so it's not a practical idea. What I'd love to see and I think would work quite well is a field for an optional twitter name and perhaps other chat clients belonging to the individual submitting the app.. I suggest this because I've seen some ppl say to others "contact me on twitter and I'll explain it etc".
is that so? from what I have seen so far, that is not the case.but of course I am a bit new so I may have not seen it all.

I suppose I didn't do much thinking while posting it. =) prices do change, aye but its not so often.and even if the prices do change for promotional perpoces I asume it gets back to what it was before after the promotional period is over? when people copy descriptions from the itunes store, shouldn't be much to ask them to copy the same price from the same page. but I do see, this does have some floors. anyhow, thanks for reading and replying! falcon-wings
