Hi everyone,

I'm William and I'm a fairly new iPhone user. I've always been an Android guy but, recently, my spouse gave me an iPhone 14 Pro as a birthday gift and I decided to give it a try. So far so good but I still need to learn a lot to be able to use it effectively. Hope I will be able to get help from this forum when needed.

P.S. I do have some experience with iMacs since I had to use them at work for the last couple of years.

Anyways, just thought I'd drop in to say hi.

Have a good one y'all!

There are a lot of podcasts done by David woodbridge. He's an Ausie who really knows his tech. Just take things one day at a time. If you don't know something, people generally can help. Though beware of things like what voices they want on the next release of OS, and sometimes intelligent questions are blown off course by the he said, she said, type of thing. but that's blindness for ya. :) Let me know if i can help, been using one since the three GS.

Hi William and welcome aboard. Though I'm still on an iPhone 7, I'm glad to help out also. I'm asking for a new iPhone for Christmas. I'm also a Mac user. Apple is a great company. You probably already know this, but some people have been experiencing lots of issues and some haven't. The company is doing their very best to make VoiceOver what it should be. Same goes for their other accessibility features. They may not always get things right on the first or even the second try, but they are very passionate about accessibility. Once again, welcome and enjoy.

This is a very helpful community I switched several years ago to iOS. While I still have an android to play around with iOS has far and away better accessibility. Apple truly cares about accessibility.

We throw our hissy fits every once in a while, but overall AppleVis is an invaluable forum. Learn to identify the signal from the noise. There's nowhere else on the Internet where you can get this information.

I've been an iPhone user since the first generation in 2007. Currently I've got the SE 2020. Next year, I'm due for an upgrade, with a hypothetical iPhone 16 and M3 Mac Mini on my shopping list.

We'd better be honest instead of acting as though we're representing or trying to promote Apple and/or its products. He's already got and been using an iPhone, so it's not trying to persuade him to buy an iPhone that we should be doing here. Some of you have been complaining so much about bugs elsewhere and yet praising Apple here, which is inconsistent. Some of you even sound as if trying to defend Apple also against those complaining about bugs elsewhere, which at least makes your stance more consistent in one way but also means that you either ignore or somehow fail to notice all those complaints and all the posted bugs, which is another problem. I also once had an Android device and can say I have enough knowledge to make a basic comparison and conclude that iOS still appears more stable and reliable, and offers a wider range of accessibility options. I'm not here to advertise Android, to do which I should probably have bought an Android device instead, just as I kindly request everyone from stop acting like representatives of Apple. Well, I might consider that if you get paid, by the way. To be serious, we're all users and not employees of Apple or some other company, after all. Anyway, welcome, William.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

@Siobhan, I will definitely check out this podcast. His videos have quite a few views on YouTube so I'm sure he knows his onions.

@Ekaj, I agree that no company is perfect but let's hope that Apple is able to satisfy my basic needs

@Dennis Long, true. Accessibility is way better here

@PaulMartz, wow, that's a long time with Apple. I will definitely use your experience when needed :)

@Enes Deniz, valid point. No one has to promote features they don't really like.
