Hello all,
I am asking this question on behalf of a friend of mine from my Church. He happens to be the producer for our local TV Hamilton station. The video editing software he uses is not compatible with Sierra unless he spends a whole lot of money to upgrade the software. One of his former employees was lax in updating the Mac Pro she was using. This mac is now wanting to upgrade to Sierra instead of 10.10 Yosemite. Is there somewhere he can download a legitimate copy of 10.10 to put on this Mac instead of having to upgrade it to Sierra? Thanks for any suggestions.
Regards,
Greg Wocher

Yosemite
Do you have Yosemite in your App Store purchases list? If so, you can download the installer, create a bootable drive and install the OS from that. If not, you could try asking Apple, but I doubt they would give you a copy. If the Mac originally came with Yosemite, you can use Internet Recovery to download and install it. If all that fails, you will have to ask someone else for the installer or find it on a torrent, which I'd only do as a last resort. You never know what you're downloading along with the OS.
Apple...
Hello,
Apple will tell you if your system didn’t have Yosemite installed out of the box, there is no way to get it. I wouldn’t go the torrent route either especially if it will be used for work related stuff.
When I needed Yosemite, I purchased it from Amazon.
HTH and good luck.
hi,
hi,
Like others have said on here, if the system didn't come with yosemite by default, then apple won't give you the copy. If you've got yosemite in your purchases then put it on a bootable drive and install it on there machine. You could probably get it on amazon also. I don't even do torrents and haven't done so in years.
HTH and hopefully you can get yosemity on the system, if not then I'm not sure what you'd have to do, either upgrade to sierra, or keep the version they're using currently.
