Hi everyone,
I'm doing a homework assignment that requires me to keep track of the word count. Why TextEdit doesn't have this functionality built in is beyond me. I don't want to have to use an Applescript or Terminal to get that information.
I'd like a free app for this. I'm not sure Pages has this, which I have, but does Bean allow easy checking of words?
Thanks.

I use Pages for this
Hello,
boy do I agree with you about wishing Text Edit had the word count feature. I do all my drafting in Text Edit and then paste the whole thing into Pages to get my word count.
Once you’ve pasted your work into a blank document, go to the menu, VO M, arrow over to view, and in the view menu there’s an option to show word count. You can then find the tool bar and arrow over and there’s your word count. It’s a pain in the butt, but it works.
HTH,
