I don't know about app…
I don't know about app client, but generally vo command p/shift p to jump to texts help a lot with reddit's mess. You may also wanna try dom mode under web --> general and see if it's of any help or not.
Dystopia.
Dystopia for reddit should be able to help you on IPhone and I've heard something about it working with macs that have arm? Processors.
I don't know how to get that working though but from what I remember; it worked great once it was up and running.
I've tried both
Dystopia on iOS and the reddit website on MacOS. Of the two, I prefer Dystopia (good suggestion Brad). But I really don't have the patience for either, and this is more a problem with the reddit community than the app. The average post length is like 4 or 5 words, so the swipe-to-content ratio is very large. I see the same issue with the Discord community.
I hope this helps.
I can't say I've come across subreddits with just 5 word posts, maybe ask reddit?
Do you use voiceover or are you VI?
If you go to google and type in, (name of thing you're into like Harry potter,) subreddit, you'll find some.
After writing the sub down and typing that into dystopias find a subreddit screen and subscribing to it, you should be scrolling for hours.
There's things like: advice subs, harry potter subs, blind, upliftingnews, trueoffmychest, there's a lot.
Old reddit
I just browse reddit using its original layout, which you can either access using https://old.reddit.com/ or by changing a setting in your account preferences to make it the default. Other settings you can change include removing thumbnails and make post listings compressed.
Although the old layout is missing headings for post titles, jumping to them is still easy as they have the lowest tab indices right after the jump to content link at the top of the page, so to jump to the first post title you position the VO cursor at the first element in the page and then press tab or shift+tab to jump to the next or previous post title. In Safari you might have to enable navigation with the tab key if you haven't already. Post comments always have upvote and downvote buttons next to them, so jumping if you hear "upvote" after jumping to the next form control, that means that you are either near a post title or a comment. Unfortunately there's currently a long-standing bug in VoiceOver where if you jump to the previous form element you end up landing on the last one, so navigating post comments backwards is a problem.
