Hello World.
I would like to edit videos on my Mac, i.e.
• cut sections or
• trim from beginning to playhead and trim to end from playhead
• join clips; and, preferably,
• fade from black or white and fade to black or white.
• record a video with my MacBook's FaceTime HD camera.
I am not even too worried about audio editing features as IO do this in Logic Pro anyway.
• Photo Booth is not accessible,
• Quicktime shows considerable audio latency on input-monitoring, even on my 10-core CPU and 16 GB RAM M1 Pro.
• iMovie is just a nightmare for VoiceOver users.
So far, I have cut clips using the third-party app Shotcut and merged them in QuickTime.
However, that is not really satisfactory.
I just want to record a video with my MacBook's built-in camera, cut and edit sections like I do with audio in Garage Band or Logic Pro and add fade-in and fade-out.
Bonus features would be simple effects such as black and white images.
Has anyone come across an app that can do this? I don't ask for much in my video editing ventures but haven't found any solution so far that makes this feasible using VoiceOver.
Regards, Markus

You can do this in FInal Cut Pro. I have never recorded a video directly into FCP, but I'm sure it's not impossible. I've gotten to the point where I can methodically apply fades by setting my edit points, creating a compound clip, and pasting the transition on my newly created clip. I must confess that it's not an intuitive process, but it gets easier when you get used to it. I'm actually trying to make time to figure out how to do this in Reaper – the idea is to edit videos in my sleep and know that they look good. Good luck!

Hi and thank you for your comment. That does sound good. :)
I have meanwhile made some progress in iMovie, though I am far from where I aim to get.
