Unable to view/make comments on applevis website

macOS and Mac Apps

Hello Folks,

I started using my MacBook yesterday, and I’ve already encountered the weirdest bug so far. When I visit any post on AppleVis using Safari on my Mac, I can't see the comments section or make comments. I checked everything—I’m not in Reader View or anything—yet the comments section is still not visible. There's a feature called "Hide Distractions on Safari," but I don't think it's enabled either.

However, when I visit the same post on Google Chrome, everything works fine, and I can make comments. The downside is that Chrome doesn’t allow me to review text by character, word, or line using the arrow keys. I also need help in that regard as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

What are you actually able to see? Like do you have some part of the website shown or you don't see the full web altogether? For the latter you have to interact in the web content. For chromium and other browsers... This is a real issue that mostly affect selection otherwise you can interact in text and or use the rotor as you'd do on ios to navigate by words/characters and others.
Sometimes it happens that you don't see web content at all but rather collection with icloud tabs history and similar instead. You have to use windows spot (us keyboard vo [ and vo ]). You might see output like this.
sidebar table Row 1 of 1 Default, Tab Group with x Tabs selected, a sidebar as well as a collection thing instead of the web content. Press vo\ or vo space in the sidebar, move with vo arrows to your desired tab and vo ] from that to get there.
HTH
PS: I am assuming you are new on mac right?

I would recommend you press command plus comma to enter Safari preferences, and double check all the settings there. Next, I would suggest you check the View option in the menu bar at the top, and see if there's anything checked or unchecked that should not be otherwise. Next, triple check to ensure that Hide Distractions or Reader mode is not enabled. Finally, I would suggest you completely clear your web history. I apologize as I do not remember what the hot key is for that, but clearing your web history/temp file/cash, may also help fix the issue.

Best of luck.

Another possibility is a Safaris extension. Some ad blocking / privacy extensions include an option to hide the comments on web pages. Check that you don't have an extension enabled that might be doing this.
