is there a script to view the battery charge instead of going to the status menu to check the percentage of the battery?

Hi all, is there a script that you can run or a way on the mac to announce the battery charge without having to go to the status menu to check every time that I want to check the battery percentage? Thanks.

There are two web sites that I know of which have AppleScripts that will announce the battery status. One is Bryan Smart's web site:

The other is John Panarese's MacForTheBlind web site, where he has collected a number of such resources on this web page:

I think the AppleScript saved there may have been the one that Hai Nguyen Lai posted to the Macvisionairies mailing list. There were also some beta versions of talking dashboard that Alex Hall mentioned on that list that were available (at one time) as Dropbox links that included a Battery Staus Script.

Use Keyboard Commanders to assign the AppleScrript to a keyboard shortcut. You can read more about how to do this in any of a number of AppleVis guides. Here's one on understanding and using Keyboard Commanders:

Hope this helps,

Hey thanks a Lott Esther. It took some digging around to find the correct folder to copy of the script to, but I managed. Thanks again.
