TextMate help

Hello Apple Viz community,
I am a sophomore pursuing a degree in computer science. I am using TextMate as a coding environment in my computer science lab. I need some assistance familiarizing myself with the application.
Is there anyone available that perhaps could give me a few pointers on how to do some basic things within the application TextMate?
I am willing to use FaceTime or email to communicate
