A strange issue and a question about Pages for Mac

Hello,
I've been using Pages for a while, and I noticed that, when I stop interracting with text, VoiceOver tells me the page number and the total number of pages which is mistaken (e.g. It says: ”Out of page 180 of 189”, and in fact, the document contains 815 pages. Why does this happen? Or is there a way to fix it?

And I was wondering if there's a way to create a shortcut which displays the page number without having to interract with the text and get out of it?
Thank you.

Hello. I'm not sure of the answer to your first question, but to view the list of pages press VO M and press V for view. There is an option in the view menu that says show page thumbnails. .

You can set a VO hotspot with the page count displayed. VO-shift 1 through 0 on the number row to set a hotspot. If you don't want VO jumping there each time, you can simply set VO to watch the hotspot and announce each time the page count changes like when you're typing in a long document or formatting.

Thank you all for the advice. I haven't thought of watching the page count, but it would be great. I'll try all of your suggestions.
