Hi All, I just updated to MacOS Sierra, just had a quick Query. When Siri displays results in the Siri Window, how do we activate the intended selection? (Web Address, for instance)?
Hello, if you enteract with the cards once you ask siri a question, you will be able to see the information on the screen. has anyone one figured out why it used the cheaper compact versionf of the male and female voices?
I don't even see any speech and dictation in system prefs. over all though siri is pretty cool.
I just updated to Mac OS Sierra on Tuesday night into yesterday morning. I have done some stuff with Siri and it's awesome. I've interacted with the info cards and thus far have not had a problem. Regarding voices, it seems that the Siri ones can be adjusted independent from the ones used by VoiceOver at a given time. I've currently got Siri set to use Samantha Compact, but I've got about 7 other choices. I think Apple had a neat idea to port Siri over to the Macintosh platform. The travel instructions I've given thus far have been met with not-so-good results, but I'm still learning.

I played with Siri for a while now, and interacting with web cards seems to work. However, I still am unable to open a web address given on the web card. On IOS, double-tapping the screen works fine, for instance, if one double-tapps the search result on the screen, Safari opens the tapped page. I am unable to do so on my Mac. Pinning search results on notification centre doesn't work either. Maybe, I am doing something wrong.
One more question, can we use the Siri Enhanced voices for VoiceOver? I am inordinately fond of the Siri Australian voice, you see! I use it on my I-pad and on my I-phone, it would be frightfully smashing to be able to use it on the Mac as well.
Just to add, one can enable "Hey siri" on one's Mac by following steps:
1. In Siri preference Change Siri shortcut to a different one.
2. Enable dictation and enhanced dictation in Dictation preference.
3. In accessibility preference, set up a dictation command by:
4. activate the dictation command button,
5. Activate the Add button,
6. In the Text box "When I say" type Siri
7. Make sure "Any application while using" Pop-up button is selected
8. In the next Pop-up button select Press keyboard Shortcut command
9. When Press keyboard shortcut command is selected, the dialogue box will appear asking for the keyboard shortcut
10. Press the Selected Siri keyboard shortcut you have chosen.
11. Activate the "Done Button" and you are set to go.
12. Couple of things to make sure:
(1) In the accessibility features, dictation, enable the dictation key with phrase is checked.
(2) The phrase "Computer" is the default phrase there, change it to 'Hey"
(3) Make sure your Siri shortcut does not crash with any other accessibility shortcut, and does not involve the dictation key itself
(4) If you are the proud owner of multiple apple devices with "Hey Siri" capabilities, the result is going to be rather cacophonous.
(5) My suggestion is to avoid the phrase "Hey", instead one may choose another phrase, like 'Hi", or even something more exotic if one wishes. So, there you go, enjoy "Hey Siri"!
PS. There I go again, the moment my Mac read this phrase back to me, there was a crowd of Siri instantiations replying back to me ... Heaven help me!
I found a way to activate links in Siri web searches. What you have to do is to interact with the web search card, move to the URL with the Voiceover cursor, route your mouse pointer and click.
Try toggling Siri off and back on. This should make it download any voice data that's missing. You can also monitor the network section of Activity Monitor. Look under the data received section. If it's receiving an unusually large amount of data like 1 or 2 MB per second, it's probably downloading the voice data in the background. Keep in mind that the speed will depend on your internet connection. You can also try selecting another voice under Siri Voice in the Siri settings and then switching back to the one you want to use. Apple should have really made this easier to do. If all that fails, try checking all the settings for automatic downloads under App Store preferences.
I knew I should've done something a little while back when Siri prompted me that more voices were being downloaded, lol! Now the American female voice I have is the same one that my neighbor across the hall is currently using on his iPad. I'm wondering if there's a way to toggle between this one and Samantha? Nevertheless all Siri's voices I've tried thus far sound great.

Hi there,
I found a way to activate links in Siri web searches. What you have to do is to interact with the web search card, move to the URL with the Voiceover cursor, route your mouse pointer and click.

Getting Enhanced Siri Voice
Hey, any ideas on how I can make sure I download the enhanced Siri voice? When I activate her, the voice still sounds pretty robotic to me. Thanks!
