So, this is going to get a little complicated, so strap in y'all, while I explain what I have found.
When at work, I am a business analyst. I also work from home. Consequently, we do a lot of online meetings and I do a lot of screen sharing so we can review a document together or demonstrate something. Normally, I would share a Word document by sharing my desktop in the MS Teams meeting. I would Zoom and pan all I needed to see what I needed to see and the folks watching would not see any of this. They would see the whole desktop and happily do their thing.
After upgrading to macOS 15.0 (Sequoia), I shared my desktop in a meeting, and everyone complained that they could only see part of the screen, and things were moving around all over the place. I quickly realized that my zooming and panning was now being shown to the others in the meeting.
Of course, this is a show-stopper, so I called my friendly support guy at work and we started testing. Here is what we know so far:
- I have a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro, running macOS 15.0 with the Zoom Accessibility feature enabled, and the remote parties on a screen sharing session can see me zoom and pan.
- The support guy had a 2020 M-Class MacBook Pro, running macOS 15.0 and he applied the same accessibility settings I have. Remote parties do net see zooming and panning on a screen sharing session.
- This issue was present in a MS Teams call, and a FaceTime call.
After finding this out, my support guy called Apple Accessibility. Apple got back right away. We then had a long meeting where we demonstrated the issue and Apple took lots of notes and asked lots of questions. The call is currently being escalated to Engineering. I expect a response in the next few days.
So, that is what I know so far. I thought I should share as a caveat for those who have a Mac as a work computer and use Zoom screen magnification.
I would also be interested to hear if anyone else has seen this issue or, even better, has a solution or work-around. I fI can't fix this in the next few days, I will have to revert back to macOS 14 because screen sharing is a core part of my job.

Sharing Just the Document Window
I'm guessing you've already tried this, but is there a way in the MacOS version of Teams to share just the open window with the document in it? Given the issue you describe, it would probably still show all of the Zoom actions, but it might be worth a try if you haven't already.

I tested it in a meeting this morning. Instead of sharing the whole desktop, I shared just MS Word. I specifically asked the other attendees if they could see the whole application and that they could not see me Zooming and panning. They confirmed both were true.
This is a work-around for situations like a document review, or a presentation. However, not so great for those times where you are bouncing between apps, like in a demonstration. It is definitely be doing this while I wait for a resolution.
