Hi all.
I figured I'd ask here, since I haven't grabbed a scanning/OCR program yet. I have a PEARL. Does any scanning app on the Mac recognize and use it? If not I can always run Openbook in a VM. But for all of FS' hype about it, it's pretty much a hover cam with a metal bump in the center of the guide at the bottom to help you center books.
So I assume it can be generically recognized and support batch scanning and all that good stuff. Maybe not though. I figure somebody's tried this already and can let me know one way or the other. Assuming it can be used, is there a preferred OCR program?
I own what used to be KNFB Reader for Windows, and I wasn't particularly impressed with it. I tried ABBY Fine Reader or whatever it's called now also on Windows, and honestly I felt like Openbook did a better job, or at least an equal one, nothing that would particularly make me want to switch anyway. But that was on Windows, of course. They were making a big deal of AI at the time, I think they were transitioning, but like I said, I didn't see any advantages over Openbook.
Thanks in advance for any info on PEARL, OCR programs, or both.
