macOS and Mac Apps

Hi all
I am looking for ways to run Windows apps on MacOS. I tried CrossOver and it is inaccessible. Wine is no longer an option on the mac. What are some other accessible ways to run Windows apps, far from virtualisation.
TIA

Kegworks Winery might be what you're looking for. It's a bit of a pain to set up though.

Alternative is getting something like Jump Desktop and accessing a windows box remotely.

What apps are you looking to run? The issue is usually that, though you might be able to run the app, there will be no accessibility built in unless it is a self voicing game.

It is Bookworm. Nothing is comparable to it on the mac. Speech Central is a joke in comparison to QRead or Bookworm.

I'm afraid I don't know about adding Sapi etc. I installed MistWorld through it, but can't remember how. I used Chat GPT to guide me through it. That is a self voicing game.

All I can say is, it works, I'm just afraid you'll have to work it out yourself.

This script will allow you to install a wine prefix with speech support. It installs the speech SDK, which contains the SAPI DLL, the microsoft TTS engine, and the RHVoice BDL voice. Since the speech SDK is 32-bit only, the generated prefix is also 32-bit. Since screen reader support is not yet possible in wine, this prefix is only useful for audio games or self voicing applications which use SAPI as a speech method. Since most of these applications are 32-bit only, the lack of 64-bit support is not currently considered an issue.

Crossover works fine… Or at least it did a couple years ago, heck, there’s even a guide for it on here.
