Repeating authentication message when mac not in use

I am using voice-over on a macbook. Latest macos version.
When not using my laptop for a while, voice-over will pronounce 'authentication window'. After one minute this message is repeated.
This is unwanted when you do a presentation and do not touch the keyboard for a while or when you listen to music.

In systems settings I tried to change some timeout settings for screensaving of battery usages but this did not change the behaviour.

Every minute I keep on having the 'authentication' voice-over message.

If i'm not mistaken, it’s the screen saver setting. It’s set to, if memory serves, 1 minute of inactivity. Either that, or it’s the display sleep after x amount of time. You might want to set these to never, or alternatively, use a app like amphetamine to do this.

Unfortunately I have the same issue, and don’t really know how to change it as I have a school profile on it which somewhat limits me access to controlling display settings

For what it's worth, if you just want to keep your Mac from going to sleep for a while, say because you're doing a presentation for instance, you can open Terminal, and type the following command:
caffeinate – d
This will keep your display awake until you kill the terminal command.

HTH.

This problem has actually made me grow the safety habit of pressing the TouchID key to lock my computer every time I get off this chair, as I did notice that it only happens if I let the system idle out. However I agree that it's extremely annoying, especially if you're using Bluetooth headphones, as the audio comes right out of the system's speakers when the headphones are disconnected.

I've been experiencing this since 15.0, but I am under the impression that I haven't experienced this in 15.4.1 yet. Older major versions also had this problem sometimes, but it was intermittent and didn't happen very often so it wasn't anywhere as annoying as it has been lately.

set the same amount of time for "start screen saver when inactive" and "turn display off when inactive".
set "require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off" to immediately

Thanks for responses. Currently on 15.4.1. Set timeouts for screen save mode, battery and power to 10 minutes and login to 15 minutes.
Seems to resvolve problem but wil keep an eye on it.
