Removing audio devices from your mac

Hi all,

I have an audio device that I cannot use on my mac called "MorphVOX Audio", from when I had a demo of MorphVOX Voice Changer. However, when I trashed the app, the audio device stayed put, and i can't removed it from the audio Midi setup utility, nor can I find it in the entensions folder. Is there a way to remove this device?

Thanks,

Joseph King

hi not sure if this will help you but here's what i find i'll paste the instructions below
1. Go to Macintosh HD > System > Library > Extensions folder
2. Find SBVirtualMic.kext and move that to the trash
3. Restart the computer.

On Catalina the file is called SBVirtualMic.driver and is located in /System/Volumes/Data/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL

I have the same problem and I cannot find the kext files in any of the directories.

The devices I want to remove are:

Movavi Sound Grabber and Apowersoft Audio Device.

Any clue how to fix this?

Hi,
I'm having the same issue, except my issue is with something called Leawo audio device. I had installed an app called leawo audio recorder at one point, but I uninstalled it after it wasn't accessible. But there's a virtual audio device called leawo audio device, and for the life of me, I can't get rid of it!!!!!! There's nothing even associated with leawo in my extensions folder. Any help?

Go to Systems>Library>Extensions, find LeawoAudioDevice.kext and delete it
also search in ~/Library/Extensions

If Spotlight can't find the file, please try using this app:
Find Any File (shareware, generous unlimited trial), it can find files better than Spotlight.

Hi,
I'm using big sir, I found the leawo audio device kernel extension with find any file, but I can't delete the stupid thing.
I found it at this path. "/Library/StagedExtensions/Library/Extensions/LeawoAudioDevice.kext"
Any suggestions on how to get rid of it for good?

In Finder, try clicking the lock icon so it's unlocked, and try deleting it again.

Or, open Terminal and run "rm -f /Library/StagedExtensions/Library/Extensions/LeawoAudioDevice.kext"
without the quotes.

If that doesn't remove it, you might need to restart your Mac in Safe Mode, and try the Terminal step again.

Yay,
The unlock command didn't work, but the terminal command seems to have worked, because the pesky leawo audio device is gone from my list of sound sources, whew.
I tried that terminal command the other night, but being a rookie with terminal, I must not have been typing it in right.
