Reinstalling MacOS after a Major Release, Anyone?

I have used MacOS since 2014 and never faced problems that pushed me to reinstall the whole thing. So I am wondering if anyone habitually reinstalls MacOS after a major release and has noticed difference in performance.

I used to do this all the time with my Intel Mac. I do this when a new version of any system is released. It's probably not strictly necessary, but at least I know I'm starting fresh and know that any bugs I encounter are part of the system, not due to corrupt setting files, leftover data that may not be required anymore and was never deleted like it should have been, etc.
Of course, maybe it's even simpler to perform a reset now. macOS supposedly knows where every single system file is due to the system signing that was added in Big Sur. Maybe a simple reset all content and settings would do the trick and give you a clean system, just like it appears to do on iPhones and iPads.
