recording app for the mac

Hello,
I am currently interning at my local newspaper, and I was hoping to record interviews on my mac. Does anyone have any suggestions for apps that can do this? If anyone has any suggestions for apps that could record phone interviews that would be helpful as well.

This seems to be two dimentional: On one hand you need the equipment like a usb mike or so and something to transmit your telephone sound to the Mac. On the other hand you need a software to record. For this you could just use Quicktime and start a new audio recording session via the File menu orAudiohijack. You could even record a phone call in Skype with Quicktime. Does it help?
