radio broadcasting using a mac

macOS and Mac Apps

Hello,
Do any of you know of a free app that would let me send a basic audio stream to an icecast server? I don't need station automation or anything fancy, just the ability to connect an audio interface, set that as input, and add my stream info. I have tried BUTT (Broadcast Using This Tool), but it didn't work with Voiceover at all. I used to have a Nicecast license years ago, but that software has since been retired, and I would rather avoid paying for more software if I can avoid it. Looking for a free solution. I don't care if it is a native Mac app or one for iPhone, so long as it still works and will take the signal from my audio interface. Unfortunately, Windows via UTM doesn't work well enough. I've been able to get it to work with a flash drive, but other usb devices don't seem to work, even with the latest guest tools installed, so it will be best to stick with something on the Mac side.
Any help is much appreciated. :)

Hey man, unfortunately there isn't anything free, but Audio Hijack for $64 USD is absolutely worth it! It's perfect for broadcasting and Rogue Amoeba is extremely committed to accessibility. I don't know of any other solutions that are guaranteed for accessibility as good as this product is. Do checkt that out--definitely worth the purchase if you're able to get it!

Chriss, I actually found something that is exactly what I need. Ladiocast, available in the Mac app store. Pretty decent with Voiceover as well. I will never go back to doing it with teamtalk. Audio quality was so so much better this way.

As the previous poster said, Audio Hijack is well worth the purchase. plus, if you are an audio hijack 3 owner, there is a discount for users who wish to upgrade to Audio Hijack 4. they even have a bundled deal with both Audio Hijack and loopback, great solutions for broadcasting and patching audio. check them out!

Thanks for this info, but I found Ladiocast in the Mac app store, and it does exactly what I need. It's just for broadcasting a church service, so just audio in, streaming to an encoder, and we're good to go. I know Audio Hijack is good, but don't need all that right now when this free program has me taken care of.
