Hi everyone,
i found out about crossover as an alternative way of running games and other windows software on the mac. However, since a lot of games use Sapi, is there a way to get this running in crossover as well or are those games still completely excluded?
And does crossover work well with voiceover?
Thank you in advance for any answers.
Best regards
Niklas

The UI is Accessible, Sure
Remember, Crossover is just packaged wine. (Or is that bottled wine? -- Sorry.) The UI is accessible enough, but you have to worry about the internal Windows emulation being properly configured, and although it is surprising how much you can get done with a combination of winetricks and reviewing logs from dialog output, ultimately this isn't Windows, and for some things like configuring SAPI runtime, you will probably need sighted assistance.
But, yes. It can be done, accepting the compromises. Not sure if it's worth it, though. The main thing it has going for it is that it provides 32-bit thunks for API calls that are made in Windows which can then be translated with Rosetta, so avoids the whole ARM VM issue. However my experience is that many games, especially those in Visual Basic, just die randomly. Just use Windows--it's easier.
