Question about using RS Games on the Mac in conjunction with FaceTime

Alright, so I searched the site for the RS Games Mac app entry and wasn't able to find one, not immediately that is.

So I like to get together with friends and play on RS Games, but also have us connect to Zoom so we can all chat while playing. The issue is that not all of us have a Pro Zoom account, and can't always add a player in our group of friends that has one. So as a workaround, we've tried using Facetime audio, but the issue we keep encountering is that, each time we're in the call and open RS Games, the volume of the music, sounds and voice suddenly drops and we can barely hear anything, not as well as we can when in Zoom.

Is there a simple way to correct this so the music, sounds and built-in screen reader volume remains loud?

Thanks!

Hi, I also got that one installed on my iPhone, and I know there are Google apps that you can download to your Mac, granted I've never figured out how to find the Mac apps, but most of the group don't have it installed, and some of them, my buddy and I have to spend aren't the most techy, so trying to help them get the app installed would be a whole lot of work.

Since we already have Zoom and Facetime installed, and not all of us have a Zoom Pro account, I was trying to see if there was a way we could use what's built in, like Facetime.

Thanks!

Not really sure if there's a way to fix that issue with FaceTime... That's an issue FaceTime always has when trying to stream Audio like that. Even on IOS and iPad OS it's a problem.

I don't recall experiencing this on my iPhone though. I know it may depend on the headset your using. I thought by using my Sennheiser gaming headset, people would appreciate a better sounding microphone, but I found I had issues hearing the phone audio when on a call, either using Zoom or Facetime, but then I switched over to my Bose QCs and found the phone's audio was a little better and easier to understand.

But on the Mac,if I use Zoom, no issues, but with Facetime, forget it. As soon as we start a call and switch over to RS Games, the sound just lowers to the point we can barely hear anything.

I did see a rather old forum topic talking about the system volume being too llow when in Facetime, that someone suggested plugging headphones with the inline controls, like the EarPods, and increasing the volume using the controls, but haven't had the chance to try this out.

Ah well, I guess we'll just have to either all switch over to using the RS Games client on iOS. That or make sure when we want to use our Macs, to get someone with a Pro Zoom account.

its high time RS games incorperates voice chat on the mac too.
I think it might be a little difficult to do that otherwise they would have done it I guess.. they're a responsive team

I was under the impression that the voice chat feature worked on the Mac? I know some of my Mac friends have told me that it worked for them, but when I tried it with another Mac friend, we weren't able to hear each other. We both enable the feature by pressing the Shift+Command+V, and we do hear the voice saying that the feature is on, but we don't hear each other at all.

Unless if something else has to be done in order for the feature to work. I would have agreed with you that the feature doesn't work on the Mac, but like I said, some Mac friends say they've been able to make it work with no issues, so not sure what I'm doing wrong.

The voice chat functionality on the Mac has been fixed in an update to the client that was released just before Christmas. Make sure you and your friends are using version 2.2 of the client and it should work.

I can't remember if RS Games automatically updates itself, but if you haven't seen anything about an update then you may have to grab the latest vertion from the downloads page of the RS Games website.

Hope this helps.

Hi. I copied and pasted it but it says the window's open, I can't find it. Used F2 twice so what's the problem? thanks.

hey all
I'm not a mac user. a long time ago.. probably it was before or during July 2020, I was talking to someone on RS Games who used a mac and they told me it did not work. so as a consiquence I was totally unaware that now they have fixd the issue.
apologies for a wrong assumption on my part.

That is the version I'm using too. Went during the holidays and updated my client. My other friend though, went to the exact same place on the site to download the Mac client but his says it's a Beta, but mine doesn't, and he's not using the Big Sur Beta on his Mac, so not sure why I got the regular client and he got the Beta version.
