Outlook or Apple Mail

macOS and Mac Apps

I’ve made the switch back to a MacBook Pro. I am trying to decide on an email client. I already have access to outlook, so it won’t cost me anything. Which of the two email clients would you recommend, and why?

Thank you in advance for the help.

Hi,
I personally prefer Apple Mail because I find it much smoother with VoiceOver. However, I must admit I haven’t tested Outlook on macOS in a while. My decision is also influenced by some terrible experiences I’ve had with the Office suite for Mac and VoiceOver, which led me to completely remove it from my system.

For me, Apple Mail stands out as the best accessible email client. That said, it does have some limitations, such as the lack of read receipts.

They're both accessible with VoiceOver. I use the New Outlook (not the legacy Outlook for Mac) regularly with VoiceOver under macOS, and I haven't encountered any major problems.
If you have a Microsoft Exchange account, then Outlook may provide a more complete set of features. I haven't compared Apple's Mail, Calendar and Contacts in detail with Outlook.
You can easily have both installed and configured to access your e-mail accounts. There's no conflict between them. You really don't have to decide in advance. It's useful to have Microsoft 365 installed on your Mac, and Outlook comes as part of it.
My suggestion would be to install it and try it.
