Hey everyone, My name is Darion, long time lurker.
Recently I upgraded to Ventura.
My voice of choice is Alex.
When I booted in to Ventura, I was switched to the Daniel British voice.
When I look through the voices using the router, I'm not seeing Alex in the list of voices.
WHere's the guy gone?
Out of all the voices, I've always found Alex to be the most understandable.
Could be because its the voice I've been using since I switched to mac years ago...
But, where is venturaAlex?
Thanks guys.

try to reinstall the voice, if possible.
It can lead to crash off whole speech system for a second, but worth trying.
Spoken Content
If you can't find it using the speech menu and VoiceOver Utility, you may be able to induce the download by going to System Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content. Like you, I couldn't find Alex either after upgrading, but was able to reinstall it through Spoken Content.

Got it to Work
Hey guys, thanks for the assistance. I ended up getting it to work.
Had a look in spoken content. Had to invoke the download. Once I did, everything was fine. thanks again guys.

Why do you suggest this?

No Alex!
My company just sent me a brand new M2 Macbook Air for work and I was a little startled when Voiceover booted up with Samantha instead of Alex. I stumbled across this thread while trying to figure out how to get him back, but unfortunately I'm not seeing an option to redownload under "Spoken Content". Is there something else I need to check before the option comes up?
Alex is There
Alex is still here. What you need to do is click on "Manage Voices" in the pop-up menu, and he is listed along with others that can be downloaded. Once you download a voice though, removing it is a bit of a pain so make sure you are completely satisfied with it. I just downloaded Joelle and have been trying her out. She's a sweet kid.
He's back
Thanks, that did the trick!
experiencing this in sonoma.
Just updated my m1 mbp to sonoma and I can't find Alex anywhere. Not even in spoken content settings. I have tried restarting my mac, I have tried different network connections, and I still can't get the guy to show up! Any things I should try?
