Hi to all at appleVis I am a newcomer to the mac world and would first like to say that I have found the AppleVis website and resources a treasure trove of information which has made it possible for me to get this far with my mac in a short period of time and would have found it extremely difficult and thrust rating with out the resources here. Many thanks to all at AppleVis for all the fantastic work that goes on here.

I am slowly getting my head around the mac but am struggling with finding quick keyboard commands for navigating around the finder windows. Does any one no of any good tutorials or podcasts that explains quick and easy ways to navigate around the finder windows including quick ways to go back and forth through folders . I am running Yosemite and any help would be much appreciated many thanks.

First, I'd recommend just browsing the dropdown menus (accessed with vo-m). They have all the commands you'll need, most anyway, and any that have shortcut keys will speak their shortcut. You should also read my guide to the Finder, which describes the different views, navigating folders, and so on.

A good way to find keyboard shortcuts in the Finder is by pressing VO M.

For example, the back and forward commands are found in the go menu, and are command left bracket for back and command right bracket for forward. This guide, http://www.applevis.com/guides/mac-os-x/getting-started-os-x-finder also offers some good tips for navigating the Finder.

Hi. I am also new to the Mac and would like finder podcasts. I have looked on a bunch of websites and spent days looking and found nothing.

Hi John and welcome. I haven't quite had my Mac for a year but I'm finding all these online resources to be very helpful. I'd also like to recommend you check out Janet Ingber's book "Learn To Use the Mac With VoiceOver: A Step-by-Step Guide for Blind Users." She did a fabulous job writing the book. It is exactly what the title says: a step-by-step guide. It is available from National Braille Press as well as from some other places. There's also a very good write-up about it in the August, 2014 issue of "AccessWorld," AFB's technology magazine. I just finished her book and really got a lot out of it.
