New to Logic and have questions.

I am new to Mac and new to Logic Pro. Mac is so hard to use compared to Windows. Anyway, I have a few questions:

Is the Kontakt Player accessible? I have already learned to ask VST creators if their products are accessible.

Also, is there any way to use Mac more like Windows, i.e. just arrow keys without needing to press capsloc? I have changed some settings to make things easier but it is still tough.

I have the blind nija key commands installed for Logic. I still wish for a simpler view without all the perimeters and numbers.

Are there any companies I should avoid because of accessibility issues with plug-ins?

Last question, I promise. Lol. The Logic library is familiar and easy to use. Will any third-party plug-in presets show up there? No one has just the patches from these plug-ins available for installation in the user libraries.

TIA!

Hello. Long time logic user here and use it on a day to day bassist for producing so I'll try my best to clear up some stuff for ya. First off as far as mac usability goes, Have you tried quicknav? If not, press left and right arrows to toggle it on and off and when it's on, you need only to worry about arrow keys and tabbing if that's what you wanna do. Do note however, you still may have to interact with some elements if tab doesn't do it with down and right to interact and left up to stop interacting. Second, no, sorry to say but last I check, Kontakt player is not accessible. I think there are some scripts to make it decent to work with but it's not the same honestly. If there is any updates on this, please let me know it's been a bit as I've last used it. Note that I just updated my stuff so I could be indeed totally wrong as well. I use komplete control so I use Kontakt from there. It's not much but it does the job for what I need if you're just loading patches and such. Next, I can't really tell ya what to and what not to avoid as far as plugins goes. I can tell you right now that there are loads of plugins that will get ya what you want just from stock logic alone, however, If you're looking for more audio processing and affect plugins, waves is great and has pretty much what you need. They do cost though but they usually run sails and quite a lot of them too! there's more where that came from but I'll leave it at that for right now Lol. Regarding the library, no third party plugins will show up there unless you make patches yourself from within the library with whatever you want. Third party plugins will usually show up if you go to insert plugins from within the mixer or the inspector and go where it says AU. That's where most of them are kept in logic. Also, if you wanna use logic more quickly and efficiently, There is a set or scripts out there but you'll need keyboard maestro for these to work. Below is the website and they have instructions on getting everything setup. https://logicease.org I hope this helps and if you have more questions, feel free to either PM me off here, ask here or, there is http://logic.band

Long time user of Waves plug-ins here. I absolutely cannot recommend them in 2024. Numerous deceptive practices over the years aside, there are significantly better alternatives available in Logic's stock content alone, and I'd recommend exploring what those have to offer before you end up shelling out cash for third party products. Nevertheless, Universal Audio, Plugin Alliance, and Baby Audio are all companies that make vastly superior plug-ins that work and sound better than the same re-skinned 1990-esk plug-ins that Waves keeps on trying to sell. Also, those $29.99 prices you see on the Waves website are pretty misleading -- you have to pay a big hefty yearly fee to not only be able to utilize their products on more than 1 device without constantly transferring licenses back and fourth, but if you choose to let your Waves Upgrade Plan lapse you'll need to also pay quite a bit to upgrade your plug-in versions when they inevitably drop support for modern OS versions for the sole purpose of squeezing as much money as they possibly can from their customers.

I am familiar with quick nav. Didn't realize I didn't have to hold down capsloc to use it. Navigating with the Mac feels so cumbersome. I wish VO could be used just like my Iphone. I use it with a bluetooth keyboard and it's almost like running Windows with NVDA. Without a touch screen of course. :)
I have the keyboard ninja stuff from Logic.band. Is that the same as the other key commands package you mentioned?

As for stock plug-ins, I assume all instrument patches for those are in the library. If so, I have not found much at all in the way of piano and keys presets. I like David Foster type stuff in that area. Im drawn to that pretty late 80s/early 90s digital piano sound. Not sure what it is eactly, otherwise I might could find a free one. It's used in Celine Dion's "I Love You Goodbye."

Thanks for letting me know about Wave Audio and for the suggestions for the others.

I also like a lot of world/ethnic stuff which is why I was interested in Kontakt.

Is Komplete Kontrol better than what I have? I currently own a RD 2000. I figured the Mac would take care of all needs in terms of mixing, effects and other things. I have some perimeters on the keyboard in the way of knobs and layering, but I am not familiar with all the menus and such. It does not talk to me so ... Lol.

I don't guess you know of companies selling patches that I can import into the user library? That would be a dream if I could find patches instead of dealing with plug-ins. Apple really needs to have a marketplace where all these companies can sell their sounds as patch packs or single patches.

LogicEase is independent of the Logic.Band Ninja keymap. While not crucial for Logic Pro's operation, it does provide enhancements that some might find useful. Have you tried the search feature out in the Logic library? It might help with finding the sorts of patches you're looking for. Different venders and companies sell patches that you can then import into Logic for use, but there doesn't currently exist a centralized marketplace tying all of them together. Kontakt is accessible via the Komplete Kontrol keyboards (aside from the S series MK3's at the time of this writing), so that might prove more useful for you.

Yep the mk3 S series is not currently accessible as of yet and native pulled their mk2s off they ain't even celling them as far as I know. So if you want one, you'll need to get that from a third party. Which sucks but it is what it is.
