This is something that I’ve never really got to grips with, so I figure that I should before I actually need to rely on Time Machine to get me out of a hole (smiles)

So, would somebody please explain how to navigate through the versions of a file available in TM and restore the one that you want. Thanks!

I'm happy to share my experience using Time Machine to restore from a backup. As far as I can tell, there are a few ways to enter time machine. The simplest one for me was to search for Time Machine and Spotlight. Just hold down command space to get you to spotlight, provided your key commands on your computer are the default ones. Once you open Time Machine, you will be presented with a window similar to a finder window. Here you can access all your hard drives including the one where your time machine back ups are kept. You must go into the backups folder and then you must choose the date of the back up that you would like to restore from. Here you could choose hold back ups, or individual files, as you wish. Once you have completed your selection proceed to the tool bar in this window. Interact with the toolbar and you will find a restore button. You will then navigate to the folder where you wish to restore your backup selection. Hopefully this is helpful.
