Mail 6.5

HI! I use Mac mail as my email client and everything went all right until I enabled google two-step verification. Since email clients do not support this feature, application specific passwords are used to log in. However, when I activated application specific passwords, the problems such as accounts going offline and email server vanishing began. Now I'm unable to send messages from my primary email address. I tried to change settings, reenter password and even deleted this account twice, but to no avail. This account is able to receive messages, but outgoing emails always go from the second account. Has someone come across this issue? Is it related to two-step verification or it is a typical Mail 6.5 problem? Kind regards, Felix

Hi! Have you checked that your primary mail uses the right SMTP-server settings? That confused me once, and I couldn't send mail out at all. Go to Mail, preferences, accounts and select your primary account from the tabel. Now find a popup button which says: Server for outgoing messages. It might say a selected server before this. Push VO-spacebar and choose the item: Edit SMTP-server-list. Here you'll find a list with every SMTP-server you've configured. Now find the outgoing smtp for your mail and check that the info is correct. You may have to switch to the advanced tab in order toget all the configuration settings. When you're finished find the OK button and press it. You're now back in Mail and you just need to close the preferences dialog. You may be asked if you want to save changes. HTH

Hello. Thanks for your advice. I have tried that, but it has not worked, my primary account receives messages, but it still unable to send them. I think I'll completely reinstall OS and have a clean installation, especially since I did it last time at the end of 2011
