macOS High Sierra not showing up in updates on App Store

Hi all,
Mac OS high sierra was released a few days ago. However, when I go to the updates section in the app store, it says no updates available. I've no idea why its not showing up. However, it does show up if I go to featured, so is it safe to download it from there? I have a macbook pro mid 2012, is mac OS high sierra still supported on my mac? Thanks for any help.

You can install it from that section. It's fine. It's not in the updates section.

Apple's new OS for Macs is as MusicMan points out, "FINE". But... it should be noted that High Sierra includes APFS, a major update, replacing the file system that has been in use for thirty (yes, 30) years. I would recommend all to consider two online articles prior to update. 1. Prepare for APFS in macOS High Sierra https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT208018 2. How to Prepare for macOS High Sierra http://osxdaily.com/2017/09/25/prepare-for-macos-high-sierra/ In the Apple article, pay close attention to section 2, APFS compatibility. In the OS-X Daily article, one recommendation would be to wait... for Apple to release a formal High Sierra Update, which will be posted to App Store Updates as "Update Available". Then High Sierra installer will run automatically for most Mac devices. There are many things we can all do to prepare. BACKUP IS MOST IMPORTANT Apple OS X Apps like Mail, Reminders, Notes and others do retain all user files and data. Only Apple apps and their user files and data will update to work with the new APFS format. Time Machine backups are not updated to APFS. After update, Time Machine backups from prior OS versions are not accessible. There is no turning back once a disk is formatted for APFS. macOS High Sierra APFS is NOT COMPATIBLE with earlier versions of MacOS. My High Sierra MacBook Pro early 2011 cannot read Sierra Time Machine backups. However, High Sierra can read and use all user data files copied to any external SSD/USB disk formatted by Sierra, as 'Journaled' and as 'Journaled and Encrypted'. So we use simple file copy to backup and restore everything not protected in an Apple OS X App. Use an external USB or SSD. DISK FORMATS Interestingly, High Sierra Disk Utility can Erase non-APFS disks to all Sierra formats, but adds APFS and APFS Encrypted to format options, with normal and case sensitive formats for APFS. However once formatted for APFS, all the other options are removed from High Sierra Disk Utility. Here are two more Apple pages that may help. 3.
