MacBook Air m2, last thoughts.

macOS and Mac Apps

I've had a 13 inch m2 MacBook Air for about a year and a half now. But it's not the right computer for me.
I've seen a lot of people lately on here not happy with VoiceOver on the Mac, so I thought I would allow my MacBook one last good deed before I part ways with what is definitely a promising and powerful laptop.
Let's start with VoiceOver, it appears to have a mind of its own.
It becomes increasingly unstable with every new macOS update, and new bugs are always appearing.
VoiceOver is also specifically closed off, so there is nothing I or anyone else can do to mess about with the code and find any issues.
All of this has to come down to apple, who I feel are increasingly leaving us VoiceOver users in the dark, pun not intended there. I want a laptop that delivers reliably for all of my needs, it's something that apple and Mac just can't provide me with.
I think I am a windows user, and I haven't found in this year and a half any compelling reasons to change that at all.
I have still turned to my Dell laptops a whole lot more than this Mac.
While the battery life is unmatched, along with the performance, solid performance only comes in useful to a point where your system is reliable.
I also find a lot more software is about for windows, for example if there is a particular purpose that you might need, windows often has a lot of accessible versions of many programs to do what I need to.
I also feel like in general mac's layout isn't for me. I really do prefer the way windows operates and the way JAWS and NVDA work.
So, I've had my journey with macOS and my MacBook Air, I've found Sonoma to be a whole lot more buggy than Ventura which was already buggy enough for me and all I can say is:
I'm out!
Please do feel free to question anything I've said here and feel free to tell me about your Mac experience.
Have you got one? Got rid of one? Or are you planning to get one?
As an addition, I've just purchased an iPad Air M1, so let's hope iPadOS can become more powerful over time.

Hi,
I have an m2 MacBook Air & love it!
There will always be bugs in software, but overall, my mac does what I need it to & Voiceover almost never locks up on me.

It’s a quirk of software, that not everybody’s experiences the same.
I’m glad you’ve had a better experience than me, but Mac has not been consistent enough or reliable enough for me to use full-time.
I’ve just got myself a Dell XPS, anyway, so looking forward to using that now

Since 2014, I’ve navigated between Mac and Windows, experimenting with high-end laptops like ThinkPads, Specters, XPSs, Yogas, and Zenbooks. Despite the occasional bugs and limited accessibility of Mac, its unparalleled battery life, silent operation, impressive build quality, and excellent keyboard keep drawing me back. I’ve yet to encounter a laptop that comes close to the overall satisfaction Mac provides.

What processor you're on doesn't really mean very much. The simple fact is that most people don't perform compute-intensive tasks. We browse the web, reply to email, do a little word processing. We might need a little extra RAM if we compose music or work with visual media. None of those operations really pose much of a challenge to any CPU made after 1995.

Sadly, software engineering has not kept pace with electrical engineering. Give me a choice between two computers, one with buggy software and the other with high-quality software that was created by engineers who know what they're doing and free from marketing's influence. I'll choose the latter every time, regardless of processor and RAM.

My opinion is well-documented. Apple and Windows both suffer from the same marketing-driven feature creep that results in poor quality software. But different workflows hit different bugs, or avoid them entirely. Best wishes to you.

How are the spects for it?
