Hi all.
As you know WWDC has begun today and Apple introduced new soft wares for iPhone, Mac, and other stuff.
And I think most of you are aware of Voiceover bugs on Mac.
I think that this is the best time of the year to encourage and push apple to fix all the voiceover bugs.
Since Mac OS High Sierra, nothing change about Voiceover. Mac OS Mojave brings nothing and fixed no bugs.
I'm not a developer or beta tester for Mac, but I believe there are people who will test Mac OS Catalina in this community.
If these people give feedback to apple about voiceover, maybe the bugs will be fixed, so we will have an improved and better voiceover on Mac OS Catalina.

At this point, I very much doubt anything will change. Apple has demonstrated time after time that they don't care. I have submitted numerous bug reports and feature suggestions, but they are all ignored. Yes, this is even during the beta cycle.

So you know what? I give up! I'm not testing a beta that's probably buggy as hell and includes no VoiceOver enhancements or bug fixes. I'm not wasting my time reporting the same issues I've reported year after year to a company that couldn't care less about their blind customers. Apple died with Steve Jobs, and I'm seeing proof of that every single day.

If you still wish to test macOS and report bugs, go ahead. Don't be surprised if nothing happens.

I hate to say this, I really do. There was a time when I thought the Macintosh and VoiceOver had so much potential, but that time is long gone.

I highly agree. I've tested all iOS versions, starting with version 9, then 10, and, well, the list goes on. I'm not beta testing, not even going to try it, even though I have not experienced any bugs that was mentioned in previous posts. so therefore, I'm sticking with current build until September. although, their is a feature that I'm totally looking forward to when it goes Live, and that's voice control for Mac. that's 1 feature I'm looking forward to. again, I don't want to test anymore betas due to having lots of bugs, not to mention the app crashing every time, so I, too, am giving up further testing. The rest of the community can still beta test, but I'm happy with the stable release. that's all.

There are some very interesting accessibility features

Some very interesting features according to Apple in regards to accessibility.
VoiceOver users will enjoy simplified keyboard navigation that requires less drilling into unique focus groups. The Tab key more simply advances through selection of elements — such as window stoplights, toolbar buttons, and scroll bars.
Users who prefer the natural-sounding Siri voice can now select it in Accessibility preferences for VoiceOver and Speech.
VoiceOver users often customize the way punctuation marks are spoken. These customizations are now stored in iCloud, giving you a consistent experience across macOS, iPadOS, and iOS.
There's probably many more that I have not seeing.
Voice control certainly sounds interesting.

Who knows how these will work in practice but in my opinion it shows a little bit of innovation

İt seems that there are some improvements on our way. I hope the new version will be a good experience for Mac users.
Also it's good to hear Siri voices coming to Mac OS.

I'I can imagine there will be a few problems at the start but I like what I read.
I still want to see language dictionaries on the matI still want to see language dictionaries on the mac like with IOS.

I always beta test

I know the whole thing about how you shouldn't test on your main Mac. Well I don't have an extra grand to get another one. So I always beta test. The one bug I reported, they did fix. As for the siri voice, I heard a demo of it. Now granted this was on Youtube, and the audio sucked. If it does come I wasn't impressed. I heard barely any recognizable change. I'll keep reporting bugs. I wonder being that the subsect of voice over users is so small, Apple can't reproduce what someone has. Let's face it, I may have a great experience whereas someone else who commented pretty much gave Apple the finger. I don't expect perfection, I do expect at least to keep plugging away and seeing what Apple comes out. No, I'm not saying Apple is the be all end all solution either. Oops, went a bit off.

I like and agree with your post, siobhan. Not everyone has these issues we speak of on here. The real big one for me was the focus problems, but other than that I had pretty smooth sailing from MacOS snow leopard onwards. Not everything is perfect, software has bugs, and that's how the cookie crumbles. wheather you like apple or not is your opinion and that's fine. I'm looking forward to seeing these changes in the fall and will see what happens. I'm always of the opinion to upgrade/update as soon as a new OS is released to take advantages of features/fixes/security fixes. I always say if you don't update, then you're not going to have the latest in security and have a higher chance of getting viruses/malware/hacking. I know it's virtually impossible, or at least it was on mac's... But nothing in the computer world is safe, and you need to be prepared and take steps, I know this is off topic, but ah well.

So am I. I'm looking forward to the focus enhancements in VoiceOver on Mac, as well as Voice control. wondered if it can be used with VoiceOver? we shall see. as far as testing goes, I've tested last year, and I haven't notice any bugs, but this year I'm not participating, as I'd rather wait until public release.

Well I'm not holding my breath, but....

I'm still filing the occasional bug but it's slow uphill battles with Apple, well most companies in fact.

I haven't played with the new MacOS yet but have filled some bugs on iOS13. At this stage, the beta feels like a Beta2 or 3. I shouldn't be seeing this sort of flakiness this late in the cycle.

If MacOS is anything like this iOS beta, which is likely considering their track record with VO, I'm going to be very disappointed. And let's not even talk about all the system integrity and lockdown that Catalina will have. We eventually won't be able to change anything of use on our devices. So very tiring.
