Looking for good yet simple to navigate journaling app for mac

Hi.

I'm trying to find an app for mac that works well as a journal, hopefully including date and place. As apple's own journal app isn't yet available on mac, not sure why, I was wondering what others used?

I've tried Day One but I can't use spell check in it. Got a feeling it's like word and has some conflicts with the system wide spelling function.

I used to have an app simply called Mac Journal but I can't seem to find it any more.

Short of making some sort of shortcut for ulysses (would rather keep work and journaling separate), any ideas? Notes app is a bit messy, though could work, I guess. But there is still something nice about having a specific app that you can put thoughts and ideas into that is it's own thing rather than having a spill into other parts of ones life.
